The only thing I really got from it was that the 360 Edition has at least 3 years of updates coming and that 80% of the playerbase still plays it. He goes on to talk about licensing issues which is a big reason why the PS Editions don't always get the MU and Skin packs that the Xbox Editions have already. Which is something I sometimes wish I could get people here to understand. After that there's just some very veiled hints as to what's coming but not specific enough to draw any conclusions from but which could be referring to something like Minecraft Realms coming to the console editions..

I'm with Yid. I'd prefer the new biomes and world generation and general 1.7 features/bug fixes over realms I think. It's too hard to commit meaningful amounts of time to a world if you know it will be outdated soon.
Not to mention that realms would most likely cost something additional to existing LIVE/PSN subscription fees. If anything I'd prefer a sharing mechanism, that's not always-on, which would allow the normal P2P online mode to operate.

I've heard it's due to limited save-file space. For 360 the cloud storage was just 512MB overall for all game saves for instance. I don't know what the XB1 limit is but it might not be large enough either if a single game takes hundreds of megs.
As for world generation, that's true. Really inconvenient to travel a few thousand blocks away just to get nice blocks like packed ice etc. but doable I suppose... if the price for the realms is right. [Edit] Actually in the case of 1.7, which completely changed the world generation algorithm, I wouldn't risk or bet on it. I'd feel better if we already were on 1.7 and then just had to put up with the inconvenience for new 1.8 blocks for instance. As it stands I think 1.6->1.7 is too much. [Edit end]
I think that there was a hit at realms and a confirmation that the new biomes will not be coming in the next big update..
That's what it sounds like anyways.
search ibxtoycat on youtube and look for his let's play

This video does not exist.
I'm Canadian, and there is no igloos around. Or snow. Or polar bears. Or moose because I live in a city, but there are moose in the country.
it does. The link is broke. hence why I also mentioned where to look if anyone has time or finds it of interest.

I share your concern for the fact that we are essentially updating in the blind but that isn't true entirely. They have stuck
to the same development track that the pc took. The reason I suggest watching this one video is because Ibxtoycat
had talked with 4J staff at minecon and has information regarding what may be coming. That's why I thought
it might be fun to try and decipher his video here.

I am still curious as to what it is that so many people think is part of minecraft but actually isn't.

The sneakiness isn't in what he was saying. If I deciphered it correctly this would be very exciting news. Unfortunately, I feel
that sharing that information would dampen the excitement for others and might just be controversial to 4j staff and their employment.
What I think I can say is the next year should get rather interesting for console players.
