Oh my! A few days ago I said in another thread that we can expect to hear news of the next update soon, and here we get our first teaser photo.
Hmm... "I expect to receive small dollar donations from everyone on the forum." (It's worth a shot, eh?)
Still too soon to know for certain if it'll be 1.8 in full. The only thing from 1.8 we see is the different fence types. For that matter, we don't even know if we'll get 1.7 in full since all we see is Stained Glass.
How would these additions alter the texture packs? I downloaded a few different ones, so if they added stained glass, would they automatically alter those in say Skyrim or would either I need to update the texture pack or they simply would not be added to them?
The textures for new blocks will be added to the texture packs. Most likely, they're already in the texture files waiting on the blocks to be added. Wolfhusband is probably correct in that no changes will be made to the Mash-up worlds themselves though.
Last time new blocks were added to the game (e.g. Hardened Clay) all the TPs were automatically updated. Like Urban said, it's likely the textures are already included in the TPs themselves... they just need to be assigned to a block.
Yeah. I wish they would re-texture the Emerald block in the City Pack. And make Cobblestone in the Natural Pack to work better with the Stone Brick color palette.
Oh god, dont get me started on Cobblestone in Skyrim lol
I wish I had the talent and means to alter the texture packs and create my own from the few I do have. Each seems to have outstanding features, but severely lack in other areas.
Once you've used a 32 bit Texture pack for a while it's hard to go back to a 16 bit one. Here's hoping most (if not all) the TPs get a 32 bit treatment.

In the new snapshot from 4j studios we see multi-colored fences and some stained glass immediately. What looks to be 5 different shades.
of wood. I was a bit disappointed that among these new colors we did not see Acacia (maybe we did. Can't really tell)
Also we see a new door. Could that mean that doors are crafted by type sensitive recipes?
We also see what seems to be a custom super-flat world in this picture.
What do you think? will we perhaps get 1.8 in full or are these just teasers for things to come?

Great news, nonetheless.

The texture packs will recieve updated features as well. I don't believe 4J would release an update without including those
texture and mash-up packs. Though I wouldn't expect much change to the mash-up worlds that are included. They will
most likely recieve the new biomes and such but why change any buildings when the player can do that themselves.
Although there is no definite support for my statement it just seems like the right thing to do.

Sounds awesome. Maybe they will retexture the spruce wood and couple other horrid looking blocks to something more appropriate lol

That is a whole other ball game lol. I couldn't agree more! spruce does seem rather ugly. I rarely use it to build and the skyrim
bit just was not even worth the $3.99. Very disappointing. But I don't believe they will be altering any block textures. Although
they may. Just highly doubtful
