For those of you who have explored your entire world, and still want to get horse armor and nametags, I just wanted to let you know that chests should generate in Nether fortresses after the update, and in those chests, you can find some useful loot, including horse armor.
All you'll need to do is reset your nether, and the chests will generate in the fortresses, for you to benefit from. You won't need to create a new world, or anything.
Which makes diamond farming a thing now...which makes mining really pointless. I guess losing my beautiful railways would...not be worth it at all since I have over 80 diamond blocks and a villager with all diamond armour/tools. Great for abuse in any other world, though.
Also, name tags and books don't come in Nether chests, but armour does.
Some people are a little bit crazed about horses, so I thought it would be nice to point out that there was still a way to get horse armor. Could this be abused? Of course. Is it my fault people might abuse it? Absolutely not, someobody would have figured out this potential exploit without me saying anything. Might I also point out that I didn't create this thread to point out an exploit, I just wanted to help some people out. Didn't expect to get called out like this.
And, this is assuming that 4j decides to let the exploit occur. Maybe, they'll skip the diamond loot altogether, or maybe they'll only allow chests to generate once, and the chests will generate empty after the nether is reset. Who knows..
I wasn't trying to down the thread. I was pointing out your mistake so false information isn't given.
And I just thought of the exploit along the way.
It's okay, I'm fine with the corrections, I was just a little bit irritated that the two of you has focused more on the possible exploit, rather than the possiblilty to get horse armor in old worlds. I also wouldn't want people to just exploit the diamond or other loot from the chests, and I hope that 4j is aware of this problem, and will try and avoid it.
And I was agreeing with you. And as for the chest texture, even though it doesn't fit in. It would only be worth suggesting a new crafting recipe or texture if the chests had a special property (Like you suggested). But I don't have any ideas, what about you?
Also, if either of us comes up with a special property, then we'll post it in the suggestion section.

I think it would be better if 4j just made horse armor available through trading, and then there wouldn't even need to be nether chests.

There's no need to exploit...
Sometimes.
