This is my first post, I'm new here. I went on yesterday ( to minecraft ) and installed an update which completely ruined my world. In fact, it's not my world. It's a completely different world but on the main screen as where you choose your worlds it still has the picture of where I left off. Is this a bug? Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a manual fix? Please help. I've been working of this world since late 2012.
I really hate to be the bearer of bad news. A number of people have complained about similar issues with the most recent update (which added a facility to transfer an old world to the Xbox One) and, so far, I've not seen any way of retrieving the lost worlds unless you had the forethought to back up the world to another device (USB or cloud) prior to the update (always recommended). It may be an issue related to whatever TU the world itself was created in (just a guess based on the fact that it's something that isn't happening to everyone). You could try using the rename function, which does recompress the file... but I don't know if it has worked for anyone with this issue.
Since I have no interest in the Xbox One, my own solution, so far, has been to decline the update and wait to see what they do in the next one before downloading that one too. Unfortunately, on the Xbox, there is no real way to undo a single update either.
No, I still have the save but it's just a different world. I have the picture of my old world when i'm in the main menu but when it loads it's not my world.
Kind regards, Your new step-dad. 😂

Anyway, I'm apparently lucky enough to never having experienced this issue yet...
