Are regular texture packs even on the table? By regular, I mean either new user created ones, or if they could transfer popular ones from PC (like dokucraft or John Smith,) onto the xbox 360/ps3? Other games have lists of things that are outruled, and will never be in the game. Is this the case with texture packs?
I'm not sure if they said anything "Yes" or "No" concrete but I do recall they were having problems, as most of the major texture packs were the work of groups and not just one person, or the nature of the internet making it hard to track down the actual people involved, as they can't just convert and sell someone else' work without permission.

Oh that stinks. I'm sure it can't be that hard to create a very similar texture pack, if they really wanted to. Heck, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks for something that's free on the PC. Nothing has caught my eye so far on the 360, so I hope more comes sometime.

Sure, it's not hard to infringe on copyrights... one just has to risk getting their butts sued. It's a lot harder to respect a creator's copyrights. Why don't you just open up your mind to the idea that whatever texture packs 4J creates will be original to them and not clandestine knock offs of something else from the PC... or if they do eventually manage to clear the copyrights from the "owners/creators" of the PC packs, they will, I'm sure, gladly produce them on the Xbox.
the fantasy pack is a golden age mid evil . skyrim mashup is like a dark ages style, but not what im looking for. skyrim is geared towards ppl who want a nordic look to there builds. anything else just looks like crap. i use fantasy the most. but i want something dark ages like that has everything the fantasy one has but with more of a dark ages feel to it. other than that i dont use any of the others. but you got to give 4j a chance to meet the wants of all of the mc360 players. be patient they will come up with something good for everyone. i bet we see an ancient asian theme before we see a dark ages one though.
To me, the fantasy pack is our version of Dokucraft High. That's what came straight to my mind when I first saw it. The wood texture is nearly the exact same, lol.
We have to remember that PC and PE are run by a totally different company than console versions, so Mojang (PC/PE) Is willing to have users to do more (mods and texture packs) because they are free. But because on console versions, 4J studios is (and they have the right to be) worried that players could create packs of games that the company is not working with. Skyrim and Halo were created by the company with permission from those games.

I'm not sure how anyone can assert so definitely that this is what 4J are "worried" about... when 4J haven't indicated anything of the sort. Be honest, it's just pure speculation on your part. Also, Mojang are involved with 4J and Microsoft on the Xbox 360 Edition in what they themselves described at Minecon 2012 as a "partnership" - so to say that the PC/PE version are run by a totally different company is inaccurate to say the least. Mojang hired 4J to port Minecraft onto the Xbox and 4J is also authorized by Microsoft to do so. The makers of the various mods and texture packs written for the PC have not be authorized by either Mojang or Microsoft to write such items for the Xbox Edition... and that's the bottom line as it stands right now... and, as we all know, using unauthorized software on your Xbox violates Microsoft Live's ToS.
There's already a Medeval pack.. that one and the City pack are the only two I use. I'm pushing hard for an ancient Japan themed pack myself.
Now that is a pack I would love to have, as the current Fantasy pack looks nice and all, but would make things look even more similar to what I have in mind.
I personally like the natural, and the 2 you mentioned. Mainly the Fantasy one.
I believe they did mention it is not going to happen, at least not the custom packs. Possible they will make similar to them, but will not be player made; due to TOS stuff I would assume, if not other mini-reasons...

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Or they could give us the options to mix part if a texture pack with another as long as we have paid for them would be nice

Yeah, that is one thing I have suggested a couple times. The only way I could see em doing it within the TOS agreement. Well the most feasible one. The tricky part or tedious bit would be programming it to be that way, if they haven't indirectly been doing this bit by bit already.
This I would love to have more than anything. The more packs the more I could mix n match. Although I would think some would look odd when doing so, as some are 16 and some are 32. well different pixel depth that is. Regardless I can at least see it possible more or less.:)

I could be mistaken though.
Yes I agree. Natural Texture is basically our version of the John Smith.
