When 4J Studios announced the world size that it won't be Infinite like PC I was like "waaaa...?" Heck...even the Pocket Edition got it in a recent update, 4J, PLEASE add infinite size option in a future update, please...That was the most exciting feature I was waiting for! (Oh, and please don't tell me that it's because of save size limits by Microsoft/Sony, every console comes with 500GB HDD, how much space does IPhone or any other product that supports Minecraft PE come with?? even my iphone has 16GB memory card can play Minecraft infinite worlds no sweat.
The multiplayer will be capped at 8 players at launch, why?
So far, it was a disappointment in my opinion and they are the same as PS3/X360 versions with just slightly bigger worlds, That's it.

Well, hate to break this to you but the Pocket Edition will apparently be stripped of infinite worlds with the upcoming patch for the 0.9.0 update.
Here's a video from EckoSoldier about it:
It's been stated REPEATEDLY on other threads why the consoles will never have infinite worlds. The size of the save files is the reason why there are no infinite worlds on consoles. Also, you need to take into consideration the amount of lag, and the hardware limitations.
4J knows EXACTLY what they have to work with and they know what the consoles are capable of because they know more about the consoles than we do.
Bottom line is this, Infinite worlds are never coming to consoles. Sorry, but that's how things are.

People that harp on "infinate" (they aren't infinate) world sizes really don't know what they are asking for. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to get those onto a console. That feature is being removed from the mobile version because it was crashing devices.
In a straight line, meaning only visible chunks loading, this person will cross thirty thousand KM worth of distance. It will take 17 real world days to accomplish. The generated save file is almost 300 gb in size. That is from point A to point B.
Now imagine the size of a save file of that size fully mapped.
Its time to let go of jealousy over the PC version and enjoy what we have. I'm absolutely stoked about the size we are getting. If an impossibly sized map is really that important, feel free to get the PC version of the game and have a blast with it.
Regardless of how many processors a mobile device has, I have serious doubts that Infinite worlds are feasible on mobile devices. If they manage to make it work, that's great.
From what I've been hearing, and Tomoe even mentioned this, the infinite world option is being taken out because it's causing crashes, and I've even heard of memory leaks that might be related to this new feature.
People need to let go of this constant demand for 4J to add Infinite worlds to consoles. Neither last Gen nor this new gen of consoles have the capability to run infinite worlds stable and lag free.

well if 4J were to just handle chunk loading like the PC version then it wouldnt be a problem,..but stupid splitscreen makes that a no-no...considering the ps4 has better specs than my computer but my computer can still run pc minecraft

I am so sick of having this argument. I wish people would stop complaining about consoles never having infinite worlds (which are terrible in my experience) and just play on PC. Too bad that will never happen because people think they deserve to get everything they want.
I had a thread in another section asking why people want infinite worlds. From what the vast majority of them said, it's about greed and self-entitlement.

The stupidity of people that still make threads about this is what's disappointing. No matter how many times people got to explain it to them... no matter how many ways we try to explain it to them... they just don't get it.
Have you not seen how big they are? When microsoft did the livestream of it at E3 the dude playing never came in contact with the edge of the world from what I saw. He made a ton of worlds, but he flew around A LOT. It looks like the worlds are massive, so I am not disappointed at all. Like said above, 8 people is more than enough and when more get added it'll be welcomed. However, it's not that necessary.

Where did you see that? If the multiplayer cap is 8 I would seriously reconsider getting a new console for the August release.

Some fun facts for perspective (Taken from here: http://kotaku.com/itll-take-him-17-days-to-get-to-the-end-of-minecraft-1598772102 a story about riding a rail from one end of a PC Minecraft map to the other)

Actually tommo stated that they're only removing infinite worlds from lower end devices with single core processors

You can stay on the Xbox 360 and/or PS3 editions.
