I read that a potion of invisibility makes mobs neutral to you as long as you are not wearing armor. Well every single hostile mob sees me while invisible. Tried drinking the potion, splash potion, not having armor in my inventory, nothing in my hand, but it does not work. What am i doing wrong? I tried it in the nether and ghasts started shooting at me the moment i turned a corner when i had no armor on or anything in my hand. What is the deal? Is it broken? I have not found one post to this so i am stumped.
I'm not sure.... but I think you have to apply the potion before the MOB's have aggro'd to you.... I think, if they are already hunting you, then they won't become neutral and stop hunting if you drink a potion afterward.
Also, cannot be wearing armor OR holding an item in your hand:
Makes player model disappear and mobs will act neutral towards the player if the player is not wearing armor (leave chunk to perform). In splash form it is able to make mobs or other players invisible. Armor and items held in hand are not affected by this. Some mob 'Armor' (sheep's wool, eyes of spiders/enderman, 'Arrows' and a snow golem's pumpkin) are still visible.

Thats just it. I had no agro, no armor, nothing in my hand. I even used a potion then went into the Nether and was attacked by the first ghast that was in range to shoot me. It simply does nothing but make you appear invisible but to all mobs you are there. Should be renamed "Potion of Players cannot see me".
