4J Studios told us over Twitter that the Xbox edition will eventually go on its own direction and add new features that aren't on the PC version. There has been talk that it will go its own way after it gets to PC equivalent 1.2.3 (Which is supposed to be TU12, according to 4J Studios) So will we be seeing a new path soon? The PC version keeps updating, for example, their most recent update included rideable horses and mules. We were also told that Xbox WILL be getting horses in the future. Another problem, is the new Xbox One coming out, and if that will include minecraft or not. So when will we see the Xbox Edition and the PC version go separate ways?
At the moment the Xbox edition is worst than pc edition. They can say that the xbox will go it's own path, but first they need to put all the stuff from the Pc.The Xbox edition has small maps, miss a lot of things, mobs, biomas, blocks, pc features... then it is silly to include a new or exclusive feature when a lot is missing from the pc edition.
Two issues.
First, 4J has said, and it has been widely discussed, that the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft is extremely unlikely to ever get worlds any bigger than they are now, let alone the size of PC. MC360 is coded significantly differently with regard to how it loads, unloads, and stores chunks and many other aspects of world data. It was designed from the beginning to have limited finite worlds. Many features of the 360 edition of minecraft such as split screen, low latency, simplified multiplayer, and the limitations for file size imposed by microsoft are inherently tied to the compromises they made at the beginning with regard to world size. To change the size of a MC360 world at this point would be a massive undertaking requiring an almost complete reworking of the code and as such is not reasonable to expect that they will do so. The only sensible (however unlikely) ways that they could potentially increase the size of worlds would be through a server system where persistent worlds are stored on external servers (which would require special permissions and deals on the part of Microsoft) or releasing an Xbox One edition of minecraft (which would require essentially re-developing the entire game for a totally different architecture).
The other point I want to make is that the PC version is a moving target. For every update that 4J studios completes to move closer to the PC edition, Mojang releases another update for PC minecraft. Seeing as porting the PC edition updates to 360 requires significant time and resources (more than most people realize), it is very unlikely that the 360 version will ever have all of the features that PC has. The original deal that 4J studios, Mojang, and Microsoft had was that 4J would bring the game up to speed minimally with the 1.2.3 PC version and decide how they wanted to proceed from there. 4J has stated that they want to bring MC360 in its own direction, but they have also demonstrated that they are willing to bring forward features from post 1.2.3 versions of MC PC depending on community demand. One such feature they have said they will eventually bring to 360 is horses, which are still in beta testing on PC. Even if 4J does decide to start focusing on exclusive features after the next update, it is still likely that they will continue to include popular PC content.
They said it would go on its own path following 1.2.3, and so I'd assume it will go on its own path after 1.2.3. Crazy, huh?
I highly doubt they would completely reject the pc version after they reach 1.2.3; we'll most likely still see plenty of pc features in addition to 360 exclusives.
It's very unlikely for the Xbox one to include the Xbox 360 edition of Minecraft. Whether that means another port is unknown, but it's hardly worth worrying about. They only announced the Xbox one's existence a few days ago; we probably won't see it for a very long time.
PS sent notch a golden psone and according to one of notches tweetes xbox should be a bit better or xbox one wont have it. Ps is kissing butt and i llove it minecraft for ps would be awesome since i have all three ps3 xbox and pc

I swear you are not thankful for anything. It's the XBOX 360 EDITION. Not "Minecraft; On the xbox" Wtf are you building that you don't have enough room for? (considering the mcxbla world is about 864m^3x864m^3x125m^3, around that, height is doubled soon)
Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
Think how 4j feels, making a game that someone else already made, but with different coding. I'm sure we will get the more popular features from PC. I think 4j is making a good move by putting in more features, and may be more fun for them too. They did say once they get up to date with 1.2.3 they would branch off. So that's probably what their gonna do. As for the Xbox one, it would be completey new coding from what I understand. It's a whole new Xbox they could not just transfer the 360 edition straight to the next gen, without a lot of work. As long as the add features to the 360 I'm good. because I just got my Xbox last year, and I'm not upgrading.
I think the 360 version should branch off after 1.2.3. Sure all of us 360 players are jealous about features that the PC has and we don't, but why don't we turn that around and get our own exclusive features and have the PC somewhat jealous of us? I say we balance out the features between Xbox and PC after 1.2.3. Then it meets everyone's demands.
I don't see why it wouldn't come out on the Xbox One. It is a very popular game, and since the Xbox One isn't backwards compatible, the only option would be to re-make the game. It would be a time-consuming process, but I think they are going to do it.

The thing about exclusives for Xbox, is that they simply do not work. Because of the PC platform, if they release anything worthwhile for the xbox, we can simply mod it in to the pc version. There may be differences between the vanilla games, but overall the PC will always have more community driven content.

Careful. I don't believe modding is a licence to steal? Whatever exclusive content 4J derives would, I assume, be protected by copyrights, preventing modders from just freely copying it into mods of their own.
No, because even modders should have to expect to conduct themselves within the law. They don't like it when a mod is "stolen" and used by another modder inside another mod and they would probably be upset if 4J just incorporated mods without getting the appropriate permissions to use them, so why would modders expect that they should be able to steal content created by 4J for the Xbox and put it onto the PC?
