No one knows for sure. I'm hoping, but that's all it is. 4J have said that the TU12 update will be based on PC Version 1.2.3 (which was a bug fix of 1.2.1). The 1.2.1 brought the ANVIL format (not anvils, but ANVIL format) into the game. It was the conversion to this format that enabled the doubling of the world height on the PC (among other things). That said, however, 4J indicated a long time ago that they would be incorporating portions of the ANVIL format (which implies that we will not be getting everything the ANVIL format brought to the PC). Which portions, therefore, we will get and which ones we won't is still just anyone's guess.

Well the reasoning for certain portions was due to the language it was originally coded into. Some of the things Anvil did with the pc edition actually are not necessary for the language they are using in the xbox edition. So some parts are going to be left out for redundancy in the coding. And like you mentioned it is unclear what portions will be included, but we can all at least hope we get that increase. One thing is for certain is I am sure that they will be able to increase the block id count, as that is something very well needed to progress, and continue to progress. although it might be that due to the coding in the current language they don't need much of the anvil format to implement that. It really all depends on what will work and what doesn't, and keeping the code from having too many redundancies throughout. Nothing like a loop that causes a ring of death...lol
Anyway All this is just the way I see it, nothing is certain.:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I actually knew it would happen... world size on the other hand... that is another story, and in my opinion is not really needed..
Good to see that the height is going to be increased, although it doesn't say by how much...lol
Aye, that could be the rub... I don't think they would have tweeted it, though, if it was just a few layers. It may not be doubled, but I think it should be signficant. YAY!
They said on their twitter the height would be double.
And how does "change" equate to "doubled" O_o
I have not seen such a tweat, as all the tweet above mentions is that it will change. I agree with up that even though they did not mention the height change, just the fact they mentioned it means they increased it quite a bit at least.
Otherwise what would be the point in mentioning it for just a few blocks up...>< lol

triple? more like double height...as that is what we are getting, unless you are talking about on a non-superflat world... In a way you could make something the same height if not taller than what you would make in a superflat.
I am sure there will be lag, as with any kind of increase like that. I for one will be enjoying the fact that I can finally make my castle on my old world as tall as I had envisioned...:D

However, it has always been quite possible to build below sea level and many people do. The build limit is merely doubled. To say it is tripled is a distortion of that reality.
