I am unable to see the .minecraft folder for MCWin10 no matter what I do. Game runs fine. Please help finding .minecraft folder.
Here is what has already been tried to find the .minecraft folder
1) Looked in %appdata%
2) Looked in %appdata%\roaming
3) Looked in %appdata%\local
4) Show hidden files is checked in Folder Options
5) Hidden Files is checked in the File Browser
6) Tried registry edit on DWORD Hidden setting to 1
7) Tried registry edit on DWORD SuperShowHidden setting to 1
8) rebooted, rebooted, rebooted.
9) Executed all the above multiple times and in different order.
10) went online and found all the above should work, but it does not...After doing all the above I still am unable to see the .minecraft folder on win10.
If you have also tried all the above, then what else can I try to find that dang .minecraft folder??? This is driving me crazy seeing all these online videos of everyone finding the .minecraft folder just fine, but duplicating all methods has not worked for me at all.
The ".Minecraft" folder is only for the PC/Java version of Minecraft, not Minecraft Windows 10 Edition which is a different version of the game.
The Windows 10 Edition can be found in:
C:\Users\(your pc username)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.Mojang
What is it that you are wanting to do in the folder? You can't install mods as they do not work in Windows 10 Edition, only the PC/Java version. The Minecraft app already has built in screens to import and export world files for you as well as resource packs and behavior packs.
I know people are used to being able to mess with MC's files, but Win10 is a totally different animal. Messing with the files will only break it (in most cases). As you said, the "game runs fine", so if it ain't broke, don't try and fix it. As LloydAZ said, you really don't need to get into the files anyway.
I'd suggest that you quit watching PC version videos and stick with Win10 videos. Trying to apply PC version stuff to Win10 will do nothing but get you in Big Trouble.

Win10 is an app, not a program.
