By far, the most irritating aspect of Win10/PE is the inability to get reliable answers to questions like this from the net. Much of the information on the various editions are scrambled together. Multiple posts and videos claimed it could be done in Win10/PE.
Both are from the developers and Mojang themselves and are pretty reliable. I certainly don't put my money on what some yahoo says or even worse, what some yahoo says in a YT video.
As for when, your guess is as good as mine (or the developers, or Mojang). Probably sooner than you think.
So, now, the villager update has hit and I still cannot trade with villagers.....
Do I have to spawn "New" villagers, or will existing villagers work or is it bugged?
Unfortunately, villagers that you found prior to the update will not trade with you. You will have to find new villagers, breed some up, or convert them from zombie villagers in order to trade.
So, I know that trading is not yet implemented in PE/Win10.
Problem is, I can't seem to get villagers to do anything. I can't even get a villager to farm.
I've fenced a villager in with a wheat farm, and he walks around but refuses to farm. I added housing, and he still does nothing.
Is there something I'm missing, or do they not even farm in windows 10?
Trading is coming in 1.0.4
Villagers don't farm... yet.

Figures. OOC, is there an ETA on 1.0.4?
I agree about "the internet", but it depends on where you look.
I usually check two places:

PE Mojang villager behavior, MODS villagers come alive both for creative and survival.

Win10 or in PE cos Mods make it possible for villager trading.
Villager farming is a random behavior i observed while playing.
