I normally play xbox one edition of Minecraft, however all I've ever heard is minecraft is better on PC. So I download the pc version which was windows 10 and when I play I cannot trade with a villager, nor do I start with a chest or a map, also I do not want to memorize every freaking recipe for the crafting table.... Did I just waste my money?
No, you didn't waste your money. No, there's no trading, no Easy Crafting, no starting map and chest. But those things might be added later (especially the trading). There's a lot of updating left to do before it comes out of beta. In fact, Win10, PE, and the Xbox will all have changes to them to bring it up to speed with the java version and with each other. (So yes, the crafting might change too.)
On the plus side, Win10 does have controller support built-in, so you can use keyboard & mouse, or controller, or even all of them at the same time. Making changes to all the versions is a bummer, but on the other hand it will allow Win10 to also multiplayer with the Xbox, not to mention the Xbox gets "infinite" worlds to be like the others. The "Grand Plan" is for all 3 versions to be alike so they're able to have common updates and all play together.
You have to remember that Win10 isn't done- there's lots of changes/updates to come, even after it comes out of beta. I'm sure it will become the new "standard" MC in the future (the java version is 6 years old now). I'd say instead of "wasting" your money, you "invested" it.
