God I really hate being underground and having to stop a project because i ran into gravel, sand, or water. Working mine joists would be a great help to overcome them. Using a support block of some sort that a player could maybe push through the sand and falling bricks would be a great help. Keep the structures above intact while tunneling under the same falling blocks they sit on... just an idea.

How do you dig under a desert without topside being exposed? Takes forever to fill in the holes.... Miners had joists and don't get me started about water pumps...

Cause what you're asking is just something in the way so it doesn't fall right? So it could work?
