Okay so I recently got the Xfinity Wireless Gateway (Its a router/modem combo). I've used an ethernet cable and hooked up my computer and now I want to host a small server. I know that there is a manual for this modem, but i need to know how to port foward specifically for a minecraft server. I searched on Google but couldn't seem to find anything so I'm hoping somebody here can help. Thanks.

I figured it out. For the box that says "Service Name" select "Other" and type in Minecraft Server (or whatever you want to call it.) In the box that says "Type", select "TCP". Use 25565 for both the start port and the end port. For the server IP, go to start and type in cmd. Click on it and type in ipconfig. You want to look for the thing that says "Default Gateway". There should be an ip adress, which you type in to the "Server IP" box on the port fowarding screen. Make sure it is active, click save, and you should be done! (Make sure the computer is plugged into the router with an ethernet cable for this to work.)
In order to set up a server, download the server software from minecraft.net if you havent already. Run it, then close it. It should create a couple files. Open server.properties and change whatever you want. Make sure that the "server port" is set to 25565, and the "server ip" has nothing set after it! If you want to connect to the server, type in "localhost" in the direct connect box on the Minecraft multiplayer page. If you want your friends to connect, find your external ip (search whats my ip and it should tell you) and give that to your friends. Thats what they will need to use to connect.
That was alot of information, hope it helps! (If this doesnt work, ask me and i will try to help you fix your problem)
