I just updated to 1.2.5 and installed the up-to-date mods that I normally use and it all seems to work fine, but when I try to change texture packs the game crashes. I did install the HD patcher since the texture packs I prefer to use are 32x32 or 64x64, but it doesn't seem to matter as the game still crashes even if I click on the 'Done' button without changing from the default textures. I tried re-patching just for the heck of it but of course that just overwrites all the mod files in the jar.
Minecraft has stopped running because it encountered a problem.

EDIT:
Okay, so I tried again to get this working. I reverted back to vanilla version of the game and tried applying the HD patcher before anything else and then selecting the texture pack I want to use and the game loaded fine and all, so then I installed the mods, launched the game and it didn't crash so I thought maybe it was actually working but nope - it crashes when I either try to load a world or create a new one, apparently something to do with the patcher according to Modloader's error log:

And since re-applying the patcher after you've already installed mods just overwrites the mod files in the jar I'm at a complete loss as to how to fix this. I've never really had any problems when updating before so this is extemely frustrating.
Here's the error log from Modloader:
