I just can't figure it out. I followed the portforward.com guide to a T. Several port check sites tell me its open, and my minecraft server even shows a connection attempt when I use them. Is it safe to post my IP on here to see if someone here can connect?
I just noticed that my default gateway and my subnet mask differ between my ipconfig /all, and my router page. Would that cause anything?
Just trying to help who I can. (I will not respond to PM's unless they are referring me to a post that you have made. ) Fragworld.org - Systems Admin | External Life Minecraft - Owner | U.S. Army - Future Soldier(Jun. 19 Ship for BT)
A PC on a private LAN cannot reliably connect to a portforwarded server on that LAN using the external IP address.
That's why those port forward checker services on the internet exist.
Whether it works on a given private LAN would depend upon the model router you have and its settings.
edit:
In case it's not clear from what I said. Everything can be set up correctly, and it may be working fine for people on the internet to connect via the external IP, and yet not work from inside the network.
On the inside, just use the private IP of the server.
