For those who don't know me, I'm Marc, the new customer support guy at Mojang. For most support issues, I'm going to work with the author of the awesome stickied thread that's already up, but I wanted to take a moment to share some help information for those who have migrated their accounts, and are having trouble logging into Minecraft, because the same thing happened to my own account, and I'd like to tell people how to fix it.
Here's what I did, and how I fixed it:
I migrated my Minecraft account to a Mojang account by going to account.mojang.com
Afterwards, I tried to log into Minecraft.net with my username, and it made me use my email
I tried to log in with my email, but it said invalid username or password (I think I had selected two different passwords)
I used the forgot password tool on Minecraft.net, and it said "User not found"
I went back to the Mojang account site and used the forgot password tool there
I got an email from Mojang with a link to click, which let me reset my Mojang password, which also reset the Minecraft.net password
I went back to punching trees
This advice may be out there on another thread, but I also wanted to use this to get a bit of feedback.
Please do:
Provide detailed and organized information about issues migrating your Minecraft account to a Mojang account, if you've had that problem
Please don't:
Use the thread to ask questions about other issues (I'll be taking a look at the information to see if we have any patterns, but I might not be able to respond to everyone if there are questions)
If you do have questions about other things, please do take a look around the support forum, or check out help.mojang.com. Hopefully this post will be a good resource for anyone having migration issues.
I'm a little confused. I have purchased the game 6 months ago and have been playing it since then on one account. Then, today I decided to make a back up account just in case. However, when I tried to use the back up account, it says I was not premium and I don't want to pay again.

I am... I migrated my account over, then couldn't log in on MC.net. Tried to reset the password there, sent me to mojang, I've reset the password 3 times now, and can login just fine on the mojang site, but still can't via the minecraft.net site. Whats worse is I'm getting too many failed logins now on my client... so now I can't play at all.. kinda frustrating.
Offtopic, but there should be some sort of automated form to enter your purchase id or something to get rid of the failed login errors. Every fix for that I've seen has been "sorry, sol, wait a day or two" >_<
I've actually tried all the steps pointed out in the OP. It's odd, I can still login via client and punch tree's all I want. I just have no access whatsoever to my Minecraft.net. When I go to account.mojang I can log in, reset my password, and do whatever just fine.
Had to make a dummy account just to reply to this thread, as to no surprise I can't log in with my original username.
EDIT: I've used the help email a couple times. Waited a few weeks in between so that I didn't flood it. I've also made a post on get satisfaction and a post here in the support forum.

Those aren't bad options, as long as you don't need someone from the company to change things. Unfortunately, the company doesn't look much at Get Satisfaction or the support forums, since there's now a help site.

Oh I understand.. I left it at 2 emails. I didn't want to add more to the email pile. I posted on Get Satisfaction back when Mojang didn't have a support page I could go to. My only options were Twitter, Reddit, Get Satisfaction, and here on these forums. I've tweeted a few times, not expecting any response. I'm willing to wait as my access to the game is still there so that's a plus. I'd just like to know if my account can be repaired at some point.
I don't mind if takes a couple months or so, if you need anything that relates to my account I can send it to you in a not so public area. I'm not willing to disclose usernames or emails to public eyes.
I am having a similar issue not being able to log into my minecraft account I purchased my account through minecraft.net on Sept. 11th 2010 and the issue I am having is I was away from internet for about 6 months or so and had to switch out emails my old email address and am not able to access that old email anymore and without changing anything and trying to log into minecraft it says Oops, unknown username or password. My username is SQURILEY_STUBBS. I have tried going through the the help section on mojang and ended up sending an email through that to them almost a month ago so I am wondering if I am doing something wrong cause before I was away I was able to sign in and play on my premium account just fine. Any help is greatly appreciated

But an hour later, whenever I try to get onto mojang account wensite it Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I have both Minecraft and Cobalt, so I managed to get onto Mojang Account, through the cobalt launcher register button. I tried to log inand it said Internet Explorer cannot dis..... So I hit back, and above the register screen it said my account was locked. I was not logged in with my Mojang Account, although I was logged in with Minecraft.net. Please help me. and i have to say, a lot of people have problems with this issue, including me.
but my problem is a bit different.
I have migrated my account to mojang.com and i now cant login to minecraft.net to change my characters skin, or whatever.
but then i tried to login to my mojang account to see if i can migrate it back, and it says my account doesn't exist.
has my account been deleted?
the only thing is that i CAN log into minecraft and get on servers, just not the site.
so if you could help at all, it would be much appreciated.

I have a mirgrated account and whenever I go to reset my password it says:

The file public/resetpassword does not exist
