I'm not sure if this is the right section but I couldn't find one that better suited my problem, I need to find a good free recording software, I have playclaw currently but it won't register minecraft anymore for some reason, and the flying logo would be annoying.. anyone have any suggestions? and if you don't know a free one but a really cheap one I'll take that too
Please don't suggest fraps and please make sure its one with good quality, Thanks!
Whats wrong with fraps if you think fraps is making you lag then I hope you know most of the other recording software will too.(probably all)
Also dont use the camtasia recorder it sucks.
Well, if you're not going to use FRAPS, which basically EVERYONE should use because it's so easy and awesome and HD... then use CamStudio. I believe it's CamStudio 7 currently and if you don't feel like buying it, I found a serial somewhere on the internet which you can search up.
On max it is pretty good, but it's choppy if you computer is ancient like mine. The default quality setting is 70, so I'd mess around with the options before recording. Oh and with the hotkeys too.
EDIT: And to the guy above me, Camtasia is not a free program. It has a trial, but as we all know they are usually restricted in some way. Besides, Camtasia is a HORRIBLE recording software.
The recording software that I know is
Fraps (free version offer 30 seconds at a time)
HyperCam 2 (free version have a tiny watermark at top left and lets you choose which region of the screen you want to record and if you want, you can choose which window you want to record)

I have both and fraps works amazing but I don't have 37 bucks for it!!
Personally speaking, "free and good" don't always go together with these apps .. and there's no open source app to do this to my knowledge. I ended up shifting from FRAPS to Bandicam because the feature list it has is excellent. It can encode compressed video on the fly, and fairly well, which can be uploaded to YouTube directly. Myself, I use the Motion JPEG codec with two sound sources .. one for voice and one for game .. which makes playing with the file in Sony Vegas rather easy.
Anyway .. you can could always check out Bandicam from their site, http://www.bandicam.com/ and see what you think :smile.gif:

I'm not giving a link. Google it. T_T
EDIT: Oh yeah, it's also free.
Did my post help you? If it did, clicking the little green plus sign in the bottom right corner would help.

Do NOT use Camtasia. That is an awful program.

There's also this official thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/724932-the-free-software-list/ which gives you some good options to check out.
