Last Christmas, my brother and I got a computer that we had to share. I fell in love with Minecraft, and my computer was okay. Here were the specifications:
Processor: AMD Athlon II P340 Dual Core
Graphics Card: AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
My birthday was coming around and I wanted an upgrade. So when I got a new computer, I made sure to get a good processor. I got an i3 thinking that that would be enough to make Minecraft run smoother (I was getting like 50fps average on my old one, I had no problem, just needed an upgrade) but I ended up screwed over, because me not knowing that GPU's are linked with Processors (for the most part at least) accidentally eended up with an "Integrated Intel HD" graphics card, and as you can probably guess, Minecraft sucked on it.
Now I'm retrying because I returned that old computer. I found the computer that's perfect for me, i5, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD but I don't want to make another mistake with the graphics card. The graphics card on this perfect computer is exactly this according to the website:
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 [HDMI, VGA]
1GB DDR3 Radeon(TM) HD 6470M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
Will that be good enough to play Minecraft on, or at least comparable to my "AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250" or will it be sort of like the Integrated Intel HD?
tl;dr Will the "Intel HD Graphics 3000 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6470M Graphics" be good enough to play Minecraft on with far render distance, smooth lighting, fancy graphics, etc. and get a decent FPS (at least 40fps)? Or is it comparable to the "Intel Integrated HD" graphics card, AKA the worst GPU ever that didn't let me play MC with a fps more than 10?

I am currently beating Minecraft Forum's silly & stupid limits. This signature will definitely be more than 2 lines long. Who da fudge even came up with that silly rule?
Ha ha MCF
Minecraft is definitely a lot worse now.
I'm serious
I don't see how anyone can legitimately play this game and have fun
Wanna know why I think it's so bad?
It took Mojang over 2 months to finish 1.8
My reaction when 1.8 came out?
LOL is this some kind of joke?
Then I sadly figured out that it wasn't a joke.
1. Less updates, much less frequently.
They are implementing features that suck
Example?
Hunger system.
The hunger system sucks.
Do I have to explain why?
No seriously, do I really have to explain why? Look at the many threads about it on this forum.
I'm against the hunger system
2. They add in pointless updates, even some that make the game worse.
I don't feel like finishing this post with more reasons, maybe I'll do it later.
Anyways, at the end of the day, Minecraft has been sucking lately.
Oh yeah!

nope. intel makes awful video cards for gaming and 3d acceleration. as long as it has a pcie x16 v1 v2 or v2.1 slot, you can upgrade the video and disable the built in very easily. (also with what youre saying, the built in discrete or secondary video would do well) For the purposes of minecraft, the minimum for good gameplay would be something around the $60+ range.
I have several cards here for my various computers... an nvidia 7900gs is a bit choppy but runs without awful lag, an nvidia 9800gt runs great, nvidia 6600gt is too slow, nvidia gts250 runs great, HD3450 (in my home theatre pc) plays mc like the 7900gs, HD4850 runs great (about equal to gts250), and my new hd6850 which is expensive but is totally awesome now that ive worked out the graphics hitching problem... basically drivers newer then 10.10 have a newer catalyst control center in them which has something called tesselation optimization which seems to cause bad hitching in mc to even be installed even if not running.
It's a laptop, I would still be able to upgrade the graphics card? Someone once told me that I wouldn't be able to upgrade/change it since it's a laptop.

Okay, Jaqiefox is giving you some misleading information here.
Intel® HD Graphics 3000 [HDMI, VGA]
1GB DDR3 Radeon™ HD 6470M Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
This means your laptop has effectively two video cards. It uses the intel card for most stuff, and the Radeon for gaming. In which case, you should be fine.
HOWEVER. You will need to make sure that the radeon card is configured to accelerate Java correctly, so it might take some very minor tweaking. its fairly well documented on here.
Power wise, you should be okay. Its not the fastest card in the world, but its certainly better than the 4250 by a large percentage. I -have- heard of people having issues with Radeons in general, regardless of power. But they're rare and usually easily solved with a little tweaking as well.

Thanks for the help. If I did fine with the 4250, it would definitely be an upgrade with the 6470M? Thanks.
