So, to start things off, I'm on a mac. I can either load a patched texture pack (Jadoku to be exact), or use modloader to load some mods I have, but I cannot do both at once. If I try to load minecraft through modloader once the texture mac is installed, it freezes up on me.
How do I add mods manually on a mac? Is there an easier / more idiot proof solution than that?

is there some reason you cannot use texture packs the official way, through the texture pack interface?
mods usually aren't very compatible with each other. this will be fixed in the future, but for now theres nothing that can be done.
You know, I never actually found out how to install texture packs the official way. Perhaps that's why I'm having problems? Would you explain it for me?
I don't have a mac, but I tried it on my friend's and was unable to make it work, so this might not be helpful.
in the interface, after you login, there is a button that says 'open texture packs folder' or something like that. clicking it will open up the folder in which texture packs are supposed to be used from. in theory, any texture packs in that folder will automatically be recognized by minecraft and accessible from the texture pack select screen in the interface.
the texture pack folder button and the texture pack select screen are visible here. if the button doesn't work for some reason, you can find the folder at /applicationsupport/.minecraft/texturepacks or something else obvious like that.
Well, now thy work together, but there are glitches with the texture still. Does anyone know if there is a way to patch a skin and not immediately attached it to minecraft.jar?
Hey, first off I dont use a mac to play minecraft but just a couple things, not sure if it all translates over for mac but cant hurt. XD
The offical way of installing texture packs into minecraft as above only works with 16x16 packs. For 32x+ you need to use an HD pack fix like the Xau mcpatcher to install them.
Another thing to watch when mixing mods and texture packs is that not all texture packs support all mods. Usually if a texture pack has a tread on here they keep a list of texture packs that have their items on them or a pics of the item and terrain files. Check those to see if the items that are added in the mod are available in the pack.
