I just lost my homeworld not 2 seconds ago, i loaded up minecraft and my keyboard wasnt working so i had to force a restart the old fashion way by holding the power button on the tower, i logged back in to find my first world gone, the folders still there. any way to retrive it?
on the up-side the new world i created had me start out on a beach facing the ocean, when i turned around there was a lush forest, and after a little wood farming and searching i found an epic place to make base camp at and build my first MEGA house, its seriously huge, filled with abundant resources and a freaking tall tower im going to hollow out and turn into a lighthouse.
It's going to be a pain to level it if i go that route, if not i'll have plenty of protection from spiders and the like
you can probably get it back if you didn't create that new world over the slot you put the old one in.
0. close minecraft
1. open the new world folder
2. find level.dat and delete it
3. find level.dat_old and rename it to level.dat
4. open minecraft and try again
level.dat stores the map seed, your inventory, the time of day, and a bunch of other important stuff. it is compressed, so if it gets corrupted when writing, even just a little bit, it is usually unrecoverable. because it gets written to a lot, it is very vulnerable to being corrupted by crashes (accidental or intentional). if it is unreadable, minecraft interprets the world as being empty.
it is automatically backed up periodically into level.dat_old. in future, if this happens again, the first thing you should do about it is go for that backup and see if it works after restoring it.

I love you, and that game.
