I've had my game crash every 3 minutes or so since the last update. The screen just goes black and says "not responding". I removed my texture packs and also uninstalled/reinstalled Minecraft but no change. I'm not home but when I get there I'm going to check my video card drivers just to be sure.

I am having a similar problem, except im hosting a server. My brother logs on and I log on, and after a few minutes my friend get "java socket error - server reset" or something. My brother lags: blocks disappear and then reappear, he tries opening chests and they don't pop up with the inventory box until after he's walked away, then he gets disconnected from the server that I'm hosting. I lose internet connection, however I'm still on the server (server is in offline mode, so networked server), my brother though after losing server connection with socket error still has internet connection.
My computer is a dual Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU E1400 @ 2.00 GHZ, 1.95 GHz, 2.99 GB of RAM. I have high-speed internet connection, great home network, computer, java, drivers are all up to date. Sooo I know it's not my computer. It's something in the coding, because with this great a computer, it is lagging. I have run much higher graphics programs than this and they don't lag at all.
SO SOMETHING IS DEFINATELY WRONG HERE!!!
I would have to agree bad coding, never had this problem with 1.2

From what I've heard that's an OpenGL error. But this problem is serious.
I have a single-core AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.80GHz and 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium...
WHY, MOJANG?!?! I UNDERSTAND IT'S A MISTAKE BUT SHOULDN'T YOU KNOW BY NOW AND TRY TO FIX IT?!?!
I'm also having this problem specs i got from DxDiag are:
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_rtm.101119-1850)

System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: Inspiron M5010

If I have solved your problem please reply. It helps future players, and lets me know my job is done.
aaand i have this problem too. Certainly isn't the server or network. I'm connected to my server(2Ghz Pentium M, 2GB DDR2 @ 667mhz) via crossover cable directly, server CPU usage doesn't go above 30%. It all started with this 1.3x update here too. Though i'm playing it on my tabletpc, specs following.
Pentium M (LV) @1.5Ghz
2GB PC5400(DDR2) memory
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900
Not all that good, but hey, it runs in single player fine and in previous versions on multiplayer fine too.
However, i noticed that it functions perfectly on my desktop, Which has a Pentium 4 HT. 2 Virtual cores(or threads) on one physical CPU. Perhaps this is related to threading. I believe this may be caused by poor design on the client side. I hope it gets fixed. I really prefer playing minecraft comfortably on my TabletPC than on my desktop.

I'm available on MSN, AIM, IRC(Reachable any time from Bordom! http://bordomirc.co.cc) We also have an official Minecraft Server on a VPS!
What's with all the half-brained suggestions pertaining to fixes in this thread? I understand that some of you are genuinely trying to help, but if a game goes from working flawlessly to being completely broken after an update and nothing else software or hardware related has changed on the affected system, it follows that the update itself is the problem.
Notch broke something in Beta 1.3. This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been playing for more than two months.

You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar. I came in here to read the recent posts and wanting to update the thread, and this is exactly what I wanted to say.

Minecraft beta multiplayer support is currently under heavy development, and is riddled with bugs. You can help test it, though. It will get better soon, I promise!"
I just saw this when downloading minecraft again. Does anyone know if this was there before the 1.3 update?

Getting the exact same problems about falling into the void, 30 second chat lag etc. AMD Phenom Quad Core 1.8 Ghz, if specs even matter (and I highly doubt they do). Been running SMP flawlessly since it was released, then on Tuesday started suffering from this awful problem. Wednesday it persisted, then Thursday it magically went away. Played completely without problems until Sunday afternoon when it came back, and I'm still experiencing it now. Limiting the framerate seems to have helped somewhat, but this is game-breaking ****.
How thrilling. Are you certain you are experiencing the same problem as the others in this thread?
yes the blocks returning hten 3 minutes later going and then the text lag yes it has reduced a lot but still lags
its always been lag when ever notch releases a new version like 1.2 1.3 it always brings bugs with it its natural like any other new game and minecraft is developing as it goes along what i would personally like in future is testing it before its released
You paid good money to do that testing on a Beta product! So have at it!! [Hey, someone will say it so figured I'd get it out of the way]. I CANNOT wait until this games gets out of Beta and that flag never gets flown again . . .

This is starting to get ridiculous. It would be nice if ANYONE from the Mojang team took 10-15 minutes of their life to just write a comforting post on forum or anything for that matter that the issue is noticed and is being resolved. I'm telling you, this game won't ever get out of BETA if these glitches constantly keep occurring. I know this specific glitch hasn't ever really happened to many people but a numerous amount of glitches always happen after every update. It gets me upset to see this type of thing happen to a company who has gotten so much success and so many good people working in it. Notch or anyone at Mojang, we made you the most famous pixelated, home made game ever and we've given you millions of dollars for it.. take some time and make things right.
I know this may seem highly anti-Mojang, but I do give respects to them for making this fabulous game that I treasure, and no I don't play it every day. :smile.gif:
While I do love Minecraft, if this problem isn't fixed by 1.4 I would be rather pissed off. I see Notch posting about wolves, that's cool and all, but what about not being able to even play on servers!? I haven't see any developer acknowledgment of this issue...
How do you turn off online account verification for your server?
We are having similar issues no matter who hosts the server between 4 people. My most recent try has been on my own machine, and every block reappears over and over. I tried playing offline, but it says that I am "not premium."

Thank you,

Read the whole thing. The problem is old but the solution is new.
This has been a horrendous problem on my server. I'll hopefully be able to confirm this workaround later today.
Holy crap, I believe this worked for these lag issues! Thanks a ton!
