Thanks for the guide, also 0m3ga4 is at my house and he says thanks too.. He uses the task manager processes way; I use them all. This saved me a lot of ram and sped me up about 20 fps. Thanks again!

I know a thing that is better than minecraft.
Having sex.
Try it.
Believe me MineCraft is better....not as messy and with MineCraft you get to keep your clothes on. [Sheep]
You play Minecraft with your clothes on? What kind of weirdo are you?
Also, it won't continue if your computer sleeps. I also wouldn't try and defrag while you're doing anything. Constant writes to the hard drive can seriously hamper the defrag effort and it will take it a lot longer. Best to set it to defrag before you go to bed at night and let it run all night and next day while at work/school if it's not done. On a large and/or badly fragmented hard drive the process can take a good 12 hours or more.
gamebooster doesn't work on mac :SSSS:, not that minecraft lags a lot on my mac, but sometimes if i'm recording and the game is only on normal render distance, it will still lag.
I tried the java memory tip offered, but as i'm using the standalone client i think I'd need to go another way to manually tell the game how much memory to use. Any idea how i'd go about doing that?

More ram wouldn't hurt either, not to mention getting a faster harddrive. However money not growing on trees and the need to eat make me have to use what's available. Sure there isn't much that can be done other than cleanup (done) and priority resetting (done, noticed a slight improvement, but a handful of frames at best.)

Step 1 is ********, except the defragmentation part which marginally helps if you have windows XP (Vista and 7 does it automatically every now and then). Cleaning the registry/deleting junk files doesn't increase FPS in programs at all. And clearing the browser hisory? How is that even relevant?

Hmm.. An Alpha development build of a game may be to blame for performance issues? Who'd of thought...
Get out of here, troll.
I'm not trolling. It never ceases to amaze me that people continually complain about frame rates when a) they're running a very graphically intensive game (looks are deceiving) on low-spec integrated graphics chips, and :cool.gif: they're constantly complaining about the frame rates in an unoptimized, alpha build of a software program. People seem to be expecting it to run like a huge budget, large studio production that's been in development for 4 years.
Minecraft is amazingly stable for an Alpha build. But, like any other game... if you want to run it well, you're going to need the hardware to do it. Granted MC is completely unoptimized, so there isn't much point in giving out recommended specs, but at the same time it's much more beneficial to provide advice that will overall help with a computer's performance regardless of what one is doing with it. The advice I provided in this thread is sound. Sorry you don't like it. Doesn't make it any less correct. Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're a troll (as you seem to be implying).
I don't care for IOBit, to be honest. They're close to being sued by Malwarebytes for stealing their programs and just painting them a different color with their logo all over it.

I'm a peripheral visionary. I can see into the future but just way off to the side.
Use CCleaner for the registry errors (and does other stuff too if you look into it) and Defraggler for defragmenting. They are both freeware, easy to use and just as good.
This. I've used CCleaner for years. Got Defraggler a few months ago. Love both. Would recommend it to anyone.

Successful troll is successful, then?
Yes, he was pretty successful. Mostly since this community is made of 12 year old kids who can't control themselves.
In XP I created a RAM drive to moved the server there, I don't see why this would not help on the client.
Use symbolic links to move the .save files there. Faster IO then the hard drive. Assuing your not hiting the swap/pagefile like crazy anyways. So it's safe to say you have to have enough RAM to do this but it helped with hosting a game.
Awesome helpful! You could also run the game from the client instead of the website; kills off tons of lag and takes away any extra weight the site has to carry. Now instead of 8-14 FPS on Far, I've got a mediocre (but okay) 17-24 FPS. +9001
Sorry, couldn't resist.

My response was a sarcastic agreement with you aimed at other people who refuse to believe that, not an argument :smile.gif:

Fan running constantly due to hot cpu insulated by a thick layer of dust does not effectuate processing make.
Can of air, paper towels, qtips, and rubbing alcohol (DO NOT POUR DIRECTLY ON COMPUTER! Wet towels/qtips with alcohol and gently wipe clean and such.)
Granted mine's still dirty but that's due to me not wanting to take the whole thing apart.
