I really want to make a Language pack to change some of the names for items (Like Watermelon instead of Melon or Minecart with chest instead of Storage minecart) But I have no idea whatsoever how to do this. Last time i tried, I had to "Force Update" my minecraft. Could someone please tell me how to do this?
Go to Minecraft binary folder (%appdata%\.minecraft\bin on Windows).
Find minecraft.jar.
Extract lang/en_US.lang and lang/languages.txt from the jar file.
Modify en_US with an editor supporting Unix returns (on a pinch, opening it with WordPad, saving, and opening it again with NotePad will convert all Unix returns with Windows returns), replacing stuffs after the equal signs, then rename the file.
Then add a line to languages.txt for your language.
Add these to the minecraft.jar archive, under the lang folder.
Delete the META-INF folder.
??? Profit!
