Me and my brother just want to have a server that we can log in to at any time given the fact that we don't often see each other in person to run our own server. From time to time, my sister drops by to check out what we've got so far. So that makes it a 2 or 3-people server. Can anyone help me find free hosting for this? We don't use mods apart from client side ones (optifine). And not necessarily have to be a bukkit server.
In all seriousness, you're not going to find one unless if you have something to offer back, and if you're going to be playing only with friends, I can guarantee that you're not going to get donations. But seriously, either host your own, or beg someone to sponsor you.

There is that option where since it's 2 or 3 people, you tell them to chip in on the server rental fee. A server for 3 people should run you anywhere from 5 to 9 bucks a month, split that 2 ways that's 2.50 to 4.50 every month. So either smoke a pack of cigs less, skip that one Big Mac, or just get off your ass and find your small change in your couch cushions... it's perfectly doable to pay someone to host you.

If you want a free minecraft server hosting then go to http://www.freemcserver.com and click sign up, it is a 4 person server hosting, not 24/7 sadly. So when you sign up please go to Start server then it will say your ip. You can't get plugins on the website yet so sorry if you wanted to have plugins I am very sorry. It will have plugins soon. 1. aternos.org - Only drawback is that you're not supposed to have empty slots. Max 10 slots and quite good for 2 player. (just set slots to 2) But no spam/survey, works 100%
2. gratisserver.nu - Haven't gone on a server of this yet but it seems to be legit.

Aternos. Look it up on Google but u have to select the amountof slots that how many people are on or it will Shut off.
