If you're not familiar with the Voltz modpack, or the Feed The Beast equivalent, I highly recommend you check it out. The modpack is built around the Universal Electricity API, so all mods use one compatible system for electricity. It has an amazing selection of mods, especially for war. Most importantly, it is easy to advertise a Voltz server on the official forums, and almost no well-managed competition exists. Plenty of players are looking for a good server, so traffic is almost guaranteed. We aim to get recommended, meaning our server is pre-entered on the client when users first download the modpack.
Basic idea of the server
My idea for a server aims to combine the aspects of the economy server and the hardcore raiding server which Voltz is great for. When players join, they will find themselves at the 'spawn' world. After a quick introduction to the server, players will walk into the market. A few signs will be placed allowing money to be exchanged for a few basic resources, giving money a constant value. Players are able to rent stall in the market for a small fee. Chests will be regularly examined, and log files checked, so resources cannot be hidden from raiders. To increase the viability of an economy, we will have .......................................
The custom plugin
I am currently putting the finishing touches on a plugin that will increase specialization in Minecraft. The basic idea is that every time a player crafts one of a list of items, they get experience for that specific item. When they get enough experience, calculated on a log scale, they gain a level for that item. For every level they gain, they get a bonus item each time they craft the item.
This plugin allows players to specialize in the crafting of an item. They can then sell the item at the market and make a profit. In this way, the economy will be booming, creating a fun atmosphere.
Staff ranks
A few notes on staff positions. Staff admission is extremely strict. Staff members beyond 'Assistant' wont be able to play on the server.
Member:
Normal players. Nothing much to put here. Have one /sethome, no /tpa or /tpahere.

A purely cosmetic title. This honors old players, and allows new players to see who is a respected member of the community at first glance.
Assistant:
Assistants are players who want to help out, but still want to remain a player. They have /mute and /kick privileges. Ideally, there should be one Assistant online at all times.

Who am I?
Basic Biography
I'm a freshman in high school. Straight-A student, and taking AP Calc. I have slight programing experience for the past few years, but I don't claim to be a professional at all. I've been playing minecraft for over a year, and Tekkit for six months.
(End shameless bragging)
Past experience
I started my first Minecraft server with a friend last April. It was a bukkit server, bad staff, and no original ideas. Needless to say, it failed within a few months, and never got over twenty players online at once.
I then decided to try a Tekkit server, last august. That server was a great success. Within a month, I had reached over 50 online players at peak times, and made a profit of 50 USD. Unfortunately, Real-Life issues lined up with technical problems and a lack of good staff.
Why I can't pay for a server
Quite simply, I don't have money I can get into paypal. Before you ask, my parents do know that I am trying to start up a server again, and they approve. However, they want me to do it all myself, so they won't pay for it.
Why should you sponsor me?
Monetary payment
You'll get money equal to half of donations. If the server fails for some reason, you will get the rest of the unspent money. If our partnership doesn't work out, and I have to move hosts, I will ensure you will get payment up to twice the value of the hosting you provided me. I should also make it clear that I am not running this for a profit. If this server gets big, I might take money, but most of the money will go back to the server.
Plugin Development
I can also develop a bukkit plugin for your server. Don't expect anything too advanced, but if you want it, I can most likely do it. Talk with me for more info.
What I'm asking for
I would like at least 1GB, preferably 2GB to start. However, I need a bit more computing power than most Minecraft servers. I would also love the ability to expand the server if it gets big, pending donations of course.
Whats my idea?
