I have been comparing two hosts and have a question. On one host I have 2 gigs of ram on the other 1 gig of ram. Both run Tekkit. On the host with 2 gigs of ram it says I am using about 57% of ram with one player on. On the host with 1 gig I am using about 768MB with one player on. Also on the host with the 2 gigs of ram I noticed the CPU maxes out when I generate new areas, while on the server with 1 gig the CPU stays between 10-15%.
Is the server with 2 gigs of ram actually showing worse performance?
From what you are saying it sounds like the host is over loading there servers or you could just have a leak in the server. I would recommend checking the console for any signs of errors or leaks.

Maybe use a plugin to get the memory allocation to the server at the time. If they are using Multicraft the memory/cpu reading may not be 100% correct. Also something in the world could be using more resources, unless you copied the exact same world/files from one to the other.

To go off of this, the CPU and memory readings on Multicraft are horridly false. The memory especially.

I highly suggest getting dedicated hosting from a datacenter. You do have to learn more with dedicated hosting but you are more likely to have a better experience and a you don't have to share processors.
They are both shared hosting. One is using multicraft for sure(the one with 2GB ram and showing poorer performance possibly).. the other is using some other control panel I cant identify.
They are both brand new servers.. no other mods, plugins, etc.. installed.
If they are on different panels it is a possibility that the resource statistics are gathered differently, thus show one to be inferior. May want to do stats from within the game.

Wanted to follow up.. I used a plugin to check ram within game and both control panels were a bit off. Multicraft was completely bogus.. the other one was closer. Didnt find a plugin to check cpu yet(if one exists).. but either way this showed me that they are actually both performing better then the control panel shows which was interesting.
Is the server with 2 gigs of ram actually showing worse performance?
Thanks
