[Help] Can't Launch Server via .bat expanded ram file

So me and my buddies want to start a minecraft server and I have the best computer, so I offered to host. I followed the step-by-step instructions, but cannot seem to launch it via the expand ram .bat file:
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar
When I try to run it, it displays a coding window for a brief moment, then nothing happens.
Any ideas on why?

Add a line that says "pause" (without quotes) on a new line at the end so you can actually see what it says.
