I am planning to make a server computer in 1-2 months, planning to make some profit off of it. I have spent about 3 hours researching about FTP clients, McMyAdmin, ect. I plan to host for just one person to start off, but with quite the beast server. Not being 100% positive if I am doing this, I have not picked out specific parts yet, but here's what I plan to offer:
12+ GB of ram (16 installed, expecting to use some for running the PC)
4-6 core processor
FTP using Filezilla
100% up-time (except for when doing upgrades to improve performance)
Computer fully dedicated to hosting the server.
What would be a good price for this server to be rented monthly? I was thinking $50-$75 until I pay off the cost, then bring it down a bit. I was thinking once it is payed off, I will save 25% of profit to allow you to request upgrades for the server (Example: more ram, watercooling, ect) If anyone would be interesting, email me at [email protected] Thanks.(Obviously this server would be for someone needing 50+ player capacity)
For $79/Month I could buy a server with 2 Quad core L5520 Xeon CPU's, 72GB of DDR3 RAM, Tons of harddrive space, and to top it all off its hosted in a datacentre with a connection 10-100 times better than your bedroom. Not to mention its in a cooled environment hosted by professionals and not a guys gaming PC in his room/basement who has a total of '3 hours' of experience.
