i just fixed up a pc i've had in my basement since xp came out. i decided i would strip the operating system and try some of these minecraft server hosts i've seen and so far they are all command line which i have no experience in and i have no wish to. if any one knows a good low resource operating system that can run a minecraft server (ex, bukkit, forge, vanila, sponge) that would be great and i would appreciate it if you would post it here.
i have tried centos, mineos, and just windows 10. the first two were command line and of course the last one too laggy.
the pc has 2 gb of ram and 63 bit processor so not the best but decent.

so i got java and the server i'm trying to install (blightfall) on the pc. the problem is the server runs then stops. with no crash output anywhere in the file. from what i can see it's loading from my home folder in linux instead of the folder that i created for the server. is there a reason for this and can i fix this. if not i could just run the server out of my home folder but that would be annoying. any suggestions?

It's pretty stupid simple with Ubuntu. You can use apt-get, makes it real easy. Here.
