Here are a few suggestions for improving functionality in Minecraft 1.8+.
1. Command Block Improvements
1.1 - Keeping Block/Item ID's for Easier Commands
1.2 - Extending Max Character Limit
1.3 - Allow Multiple Commands Within the Same Command Block
1.4 - Option to Enable Use of Modded Commands in Config
2. Redstone Block Improvements
2.1 - Extending the Redstone Blocks Range
1. COMMAND BLOCK IMPROVEMENTS
Since I've become familiar with the Command Block and ways to use it effectively, I thought it'd be nice to have several improvements implemented into it.
1.1 - KEEPING BLOCK/ITEM ID'S FOR EASIER COMMANDS
I've honestly thought this over since the very first time I saw the messgae in minecraft using the /give command saying Block/Item ID's won't be supported in the future. I use Block ID's in the Command Block all the time, mainly because it's composed of numbers (a Block ID and a Data Value if needed), and because I can type fast, it makes the process much faster. I honestly think Block/Item ID's should be supported in the future because of the fact that in current versions of minecraft, opening the inventory and putting the cursor over a block/item will show its Block/Item ID, and if done enough times, it can be remembered.
I heard that they were getting rid of Block ID's so that it wouldn't cause "Version Mismatches" in Mods, which I think it's quite ridiculous, mainly because of the fact that Mojang Minecraft Block/Item ID's are Canon and are the Original, therefor any Modded Blocks/Items should have their own unique ID numbers that are DIFFERENT from the Originals.
Example: I know that Items are in the 200's while the Juke Box CD's are in the 1000's, so why get rid of Original Block/Item ID's when Mojang can implement a feature that allows letters to be used in ID's and just give modded block/item ID's unique ID's?
Example:
Mod: Explosive Plus Mod
Custom Block Names: Nova Block (for the Nova Bomb), Nuke Block (for the Nuke)
Custom Modded Block ID's: epm.1 (Nova Block), epm.2 (Nuke Block), exc.
1.2 - EXTENDING MAX CHARACTER LIMIT
I once read in a thread that the Command Block allows you to enter long commands, and from experience, it does have a limit, but it would be great if the current limit could be extended. If its extended, it would allow even larger commands to be enter, as well as granting even greater functionality when combined with the next topic below.
1.3 - ALLOW MULTIPLE COMMANDS WITHIN THE SAME COMMAND BLOCK
I know from trail and error that creating large automated creations and being able to spawn and replace many blocks and multiple blocks at the same time requires many, many Command Blocks and a very unique system to pull it off. I thought that maybe if we could enter multiple commands within the same Command Block, that it's be much easier.
"setblock 1 100 100 100" spawns a Stone Block at coordinates X=100, Y=100, Z=100,
"setblock 2 101 100 100" spawns a Grass Block at coordinates X=101, Y=100, Z=100,
and "setblock 20 102 100 100" spawns a Glass Block at coordinates X=102, Y=100, Z=100,
while 2 Semicolons (;) separates the 3 commands from one another.
Using this in a Command Block would cause 3 different blocks to be spawn simultaneously in 3 different spots, which could have really great uses in the future of minecraft.
1.4 - OPTION TO ENABLE USE OF MOODED COMMANDS IN COMMAND BLOCKS
I know for a fact that some modded commands can be used in Command Block, but not all of them. Well, if using a mod like World Edit, why not implement an option to allow ALL or SPECIFIED commands to be used in the Command Block? Of course if it fell into the wrong hands, it'd reck havoc on servers, but that's what Server.Properties and such plugins are for, right?
2. - REDSTONE IMPROVEMENTS
2.1 - Extending Redstone Blocks Range
I noticed that Redstone Blocks will power specific blocks ONLY directly adjacent to it, Top, Bottom, Front, Back, Left and Right, but not Diagonally. Well, I think it'd be a really great idea to add an option to Extended it's range 1 block diagonally as well, by simply clicking on it again, but with a Hoe (of Any Type). By clicking on it, it's texture could change to the same as it is now, but with White-tipped Corners, signifying that it's range it extending to all 12 Diagonal Directions (Top Upper Left, Top Upper-Right, Top Lower Left, Top Lower Right, Mid Upper Left, Mid Upper Rigth, Mid Lower Left, Mid Lower Right, Bottom Upper Left, Bottom Upper Right, Bottom Lower Left and Bottom Lower Right), as well as the 14 Normal Directions (Up, Down, Top Left, Top Front, Top Right, Top Back, Mid Left, Mid Front, Mid Right, Mid Back, Bottom Left, Bottom Front, Bottom Right, and Bottom Back).
3. BEACON IMPROVEMENTS
3.1 - Colored Beacons
I think Beacons should be able to be colored. Either Using a different colored stained glass during the crafting of the beacon, or by placing a stained glass block in front of it.
3.2 - Sideways Beacons
I always thought it'd be cool to have sideways beacons that could project a beam sideways, and a beam that would work regardless if the beam was obstructed or not.
Well, these are my ideas, and I honestly would like to see some of them implemented into the game, but based off experience in similar suggestion forums, I highly doubt it, but I suggested them anyway in hope that a similar change cold be made.
I'd love to receive feedback from the minecraft community!
