From what c418 has said in this reddit thread, we can expect the in-game music next week.

Finally, Volume Beta seems to be getting wrapped up. C418 also said this includes that Nether and End music the 360 Version has, so it won't be "exclusive" anymore.
From what he has said in the past, some of this music includes:
Main menu music
New tracks for creative mode
More tracks for survival mode
Nether/End (Including the end poem)
Combat music (This was a concept, it's possible he may have dropped it. It is not heard the Volume Beta, so it either got changed, delayed, or simply scrapped.)
About a year ago, Bebop Vox talked to C418 and posted a Minecraft Monday Show Episode that had some samples of the combat music, and creative mode music. They are concept ideas, so they are bound to have change over the past year, but these will give an idea.
"Minecraft Volume Beta in November! That means more music in Minecraft, the game, too!"
Two things: It would make sense for the new music to be part of the 1.7 update. In which case, perhaps this is a clue that November is a targeted release date for 1.7.
Been eager for this for a while!!! Can't wait for the remastered record songs (because in-game, they're not of the best quality). Battle music? Creative music? More survival music? Wow, I was happy just modding Minecraft to play songs from C418's other albums (by the way, buy One. It's amazing!), but now I can have completely unique music for Minecraft!
Combat music eh? How will it be triggered? This is going to really be interesting, cant wait.
Geez, there's all sorts of ways you could do it! Perhaps a certain track would play when attacked before seeing the attacked, another would simply be played during the night when there are a lot of monsters around. Perhaps another track, more intense than the one playing during the night, would play once you actually attack one of the monsters duringin the night. And of course there could be many different combat tracks depending on the setting (Battling underground, aboveground or in the Nether?), monster (attacking a measly Silverfish or a giant Ghast?) or itnensity of monsters (attacking a lone zombie or a giant horde?).
All I hope for is that the music is implemented in a way that the songs play at the right timeand feel natural in the way they play.
I can't wait. I don't have to be jealous of the 360 version's exclusive songs anymore. Combat music will certainly make things at least a little more exciting. I wonder what style C418 will use for the combat music.

New music?
Sorry to be a jerk, but it's about time. C418 said that we'd get new music around the beginning of the game, so he's very late. Not complaining though, I'm just kind of mad about the huge wait.
I believe he said that the combat music will have a few variations, and will try to fit most situations. It will play when a mob aggros on you, but does not play for Creepers.

Just doesn't seem special.

Not being a hater or anything, but I don't understand what you mean by that? Why isn't it special?

I am so happy! Combat music, dimension music...
Wow.
