Well Dinnerbone finally acknowledges that the zombie AI isn't all ok; a welcome word for those who are upset with their current state. It seems even we as a community helped him realize that.
Judging from Dinnerbone's quote, we'll likely see the zombie hordes be toned down slightly and adjusted better towards difficulty. That way, I assume everyone who likes and dislikes the feature can enjoy the change.
Keep your fingers crossed that these changes occur; and hopefully other changes like like boats, regeneration, and potion nerfs be slightly more adjusted. That way, essentially all the 1.6 controversy can be fully ironed out.
Great, now the game will be too easy again. The new zombie AI was fine.
I hope if they nerf it, they only nerf it for normal and easy difficulties.
Implying the game was actually made harder by the new zombie AI.
Back on topic, it's nice to see that the new AI will be adjusted to fit the difficulty better. I mean, how is easy mode easy if there are hoardes of zombies everywhere and how is hard mode hard if there isn't anything making it different?
*yawns* - Really? Just adapt and kill them all. Have skeletons snipe them :P. Sure, it is annoying but once you adapt and fend them off it's easy again.
Kinda funny how horribly casual this community is, this is just silly. I agree with the complaints that it just makes the zombies annoying, because they're really a challengless mob with how they're designed at current. But part of this nerf accounting for it making the game too hard? God you people are freakin casual as hell.
I really hope zombies receive a change in that they actually get some attacks instead of just changing damage values.

Yup, this forum needs to toughen up. They keep wanting nerfs on every single thing that it is facepalm worthy type silly. Just adapt, stock up on weapons and armor, and loads of torches and fences. If it's night simply go mining.
When zombies team up with those little demonic baby zombies is when things get troublesomely fun. When they're supported by baby zombies and skeletons is when things get fun. You're having fun (and I do mean positive fun) cutting each and every one down. Once you finally claim the areas as yours you look back with pride
Just build a bloody fence and torch it up while also shooting arrows at zombies while cutting the closer ones down. Simple.
I go back and forth between two points, and fighting off one zombie and 50 of his friends was neither fun nor difficult, just a waste of resources and time. This is a welcomed change.

You know what's also amazing? How much some people in this community don't realize that Minecraft is a casual game so not everybody wants it to be "ERMAHGERD EPIC ZOMBEH SURVIVAL" all the time.

You sound like self-centered jerk with that comment. Minecraft isn't mean't to be a hardcore fighting game like WoW or Dota.
It is a game that can be played both Casual and Hardcore all depending on your choice of play.
I hope its only nerfed for easy. God not everyone wants to play a game with no challenge. It's not fun when there's like 3 mobs near you that aren't a challenge.
This is good to hear. If things change my girlfriend and I will definitely give it another shot. I do hope there's an option added to the game for people who want this. Maybe we can even get an option for machine gun skeletons too. As always, the proof is in the pudding.

Yes and (by example for the sake of discussion) hardmode isn't meant to be there for people to say "HEY LOOK AT ME IM PLAYING ON HARD XD LOOK EVERYONE!", it's meant to actually be a challenge. Which is quite the opposite of what it is and to the point im trying to actually make, as minecraft as a game isn't hard at all to begin with. To want to dumb it down further is just...a mindnumbingly awful decision. If hard is too hard for people they should play normal . Hardmode isn't meant to be easy so people brag to their friends about playing on "hard" or to feel important.
Now, even though I do say all of that, I do agree it the spawning needs adjusting because as it is at present, it's just annoying, not challenging. But honestly, as I've said elsewhere this isn't something that can be aided with changing spawning mechanics or damage values, the zombie itself as a mob need reworking to have actual attacks more than walk and fling arms.

The new zombies aren't hard at all, unless you suck. We're not asking for change because they're "too hard," but because it's too constant. It happens way to often, practically every night is a zombie apocalypse, and it gets dull, boring, and annoying just hacking and slashing like 20 zombies every few minutes. And of course the baby zombies. They're good, but they need to be fixed. Not burning in the daylight, and giving small XP.
And of course difficulty scaling is practically non-existent in terms of the zombies.

Yes, you should be able to play it with some difficulty, the problem is that there is no real difficulty to speak of and anytime we try to add any difficulty everyone cries until it is nerfed.

The problem with the truth, is that it never lies.
I'd like to see zombie sight range drop again (maybe just for easy mode, though, since it can be a really fun challenge). Not because they're too tough too fight, but because they cause huge amounts of lag on my server. All the zombies swarm at any semi-nearby villagers, and the mobs become jittery and hard to hit. Having a good way to avoid this problem without setting dayLightCycle or mobSpawning to false, or difficulty to peaceful, would be nice.
I like how the thread specifically says they're adjusting it based on Game difficulty, and people just assume they're going to completely nerf it all around.
What I predict to happen here...is that the CURRENT mechanics with Zombies will still be the same on the Hard difficulty, and then if you're on Normal/Easy, it will be more lenient.
