Oh, this is fantastic. This sounds like it'll be one of my favorite updates ever.
Baby zombies are adorable.
Hopefully, though, monsters will have higher droprates than 5%, since it seems like they're already going to be fairly rare, I don't really want to have to find a couple dozen armored zombies for a single piece of armor.
If you want a real challenge, they could give zombie pigmen fishing rods.
I really hope they don't drop diamond armor, I already get piles of iron armor w/o making it from zombies and village chests, at that point it would be spam. I usually don't even craft my first bow either, skeletons are always so gracious.
Now if only the armor would get a visual overhaul, the chain mail armor looks like utter garbage. Could armor be applied as a texture and not an extra blocky overlaid model?
You sir, are right. They need an overhaul for the mob armor, especially on skeletons.
Man, I really, REALLY hope that armored mobs could group up and work together. It would be amazing to have my town seiged by an undead army, fallen in a great war of days gone past.
If only skeletons could actually lob their shots to get more range and shoot over walls... They wouldn't even need to be extremely accurate, they would just need to be accurate enough to shoot onto the other side of the wall.

And they need to move AND shoot at the same time like they used to. None of this sitting duck ********.
I remember in 1.8 they would jump out from a wall, fire off an arrow, then hide again. It was clever. Now they just walk to me. Stop. Then shoot.
Lame.
I think just because they were it, shouldn't mean 100% drop rate. A zombie with an iron chest plate, should just be stronger, with a low chance of dropping the part. Maybe they should be rusted?
Amen. I'm tired of Jeb/Dinnerbone overdoing everything. This should just be "rare loot tweaked for difficulty settings and visible/active on monsters." We don't need baby zombies in diamond armor.
Over doing? Please.
Feature creep only applies to a finished game. Minecraft is NOT finished. Look how much better 1.3 is than 1.0? This is NOT a final release. We are still in Beta. But a 2nd one And that is what I call it. Minecraft Beta 2 1.3.
Why the **** would you stop adding things? I know plenty of games that keep getting addons and Not one person ever bitched.
Garry's Mod for example. Why in blue blazes would you want Gmod V1 over the current one? Or even 9, 10, 11

Endermen, rather than taking random blocks and placing them semi-randomly, will now build caves (Out of blocks they steal), which are dark, and therefor mobs can spawn. they will be more active in this. In hardmode, if the only material between you or a chest, and the enderman, is NOT ender-safe, they will tunnel to you or your chests. Hardmode, cobblestone stops being ender-safe. can ignite TNT. will place TNT on non-neder-safe materials that are between them and you, or chests, but only if they have already stolen the TNT.
How to make a house safe from endermen, even in hardmode? stone, Stone brick, mossy cobble, and most importantly, Don't randomly place TNT for endermen to find.
also I just gotta say... Skeletons with chainmail and leather pants. welcome to diablo-craft.
and also. Mobs should automatically be aggressive to some other mobs, like cows. for example, zombie kills a cow, zombie gets an upgrade, (random leather armor). that would be cool.
I don't think Endermen should take TNT blocks. Creepers are bad enough as it is. They should however be capable of doing more than get stuck under a swamp tree while I stand on top of it whacking the bejeezus out of them with a stone sword! That may be an easy ender pearl for me but I don't see why aggroed Endermen shouldn't teleport onto leaf blocks. I'm not sure they actually upped the Endermen difficulty. It seems a lot more like it used to be, aggro Endermen, go find a spot they will teleport under you which is low enough so you can whack them on the head, collect ender pearl. They also seem to have difficulty teleporting onto cobblestone so if I don't want to deal with Endermen I just build a cobble pillar and look at Endermen getting aggro underneath me and they are able to do zilch about it. I always thought Endermen were a mob you were supposed to hate, not to exploit the heck out of! The current behaviour of Endermen is pretty weird if you ask me, if I aggroed it and it started teleporting to me, it should at least be able to figure out that if I can stand on a leaf block so can they!
On zombies killing cows, I think they should at least implement a game mechanic that refreshes animal spawns if a player didn't kill it. It is extremely difficult to find sheep if the wolves have eaten them all, and the sheep currently don't respawn back to stop the wolves from killing all of them off so the player currently will eventually find some biomes where sheep spawned gets filled with lots of wolves and no sheep.

Do animals reproduce, slowly, on their own? If not, they should. Just slowly when the player isn't around

The solution is probably in making the dropped items have random (but towards the lower end) durability, to reflect that it's been used already. All rare drops should work like that. You use them because you got them for free, but you make the best stuff with your hard-earned ingots.

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
I prefer fantasy creatures in minecraft to animals that exist in real life.
Creepers are better in the game than pigs, and are a lot more iconic
Thought riding on pigs instead of horses, and controlling them, would be a lot more unique
Most of Minecraft's fantasy creatures are cool, but baby zombies are a bit ridiculous. Plus I just want to see some more real life animals added. I don't think that's asking a lot.
seeing how manybugs glitches etc are in 1.3.1 they need to focus on fixing those before even THINKING about 1.4
They are not going to release an update without new features, anyway, Dinnerbone is just their AI person, he is payed to come up with new features (and I assume bug-fix those features he makes) he is not the person that does bug-fixes, Mojang has other people to work on the bugs so Dinnerbone adding new features doesn't really impact the bug-fixing.

Actually, I'm betting that when a zombie kills a baby villager, it has a chance to spawn with armor on, just like naturally spawning zombies.
Regardless if the child was wearing armor or not
Edit: I just got an awesome idea - Feeding zombies rotten flesh makes them produce baby zombies!
I don't think that throwing in tons of mobs that are really just rehashes of existing ones is a good idea.
I just want to see some new animals instead of ridiculous fantasy creatures like “baby zombies”.

They should be born through pods found in creeper nests.
