Probably just a random tree that shows the changing of seasons in a subtle way. An entire new biome is possible but unlikely. Although I do like the idea of a subtropical forest with thickets of bamboo and cypress trees.
England IS the centre of the world! That's why the international date line is on the other side.
England is a state of Great Britain, has been for a couple of hundred years. We nearly ruled the world once, most likely the cause of most atlases being laid out as they are. Bloody colonials, let us down in WWII.
Haha, wtf am I on about? This isn't even OT.
Anyway, as for the Far East biome, there's about as much chance of that as anything else right now. With all the changes coming to terrain the possibilities are many.

That doesn't have anything to do with east or west though.
Historically, Far East and Wild West have been terms for different places in the world, whether they are actually wild now or particularly far east isn't really relevant, I think it's fine to use the terms simply because they've been used in the past.
Technically the centre of the world(0 latitude, 0 longitude) is in the sea somewhere off the coast of Ghana.
Thank you for letting me say Far East or Wild West.
Looks more like they're talking about seasons than a new biome. But rather than speculating about new biomes, I'm wondering more about the tree itself. Where might they spawn? How rare will they be? What could cherries be used for if dropped via the cherry leaves?
Dude, I'll be so happy if they add seasons in Minecraft 1.7.
Why site my thread as a source when I don't even list anything about cherry trees in my post? And no, Dinnerbone did not hint at cherry trees. Patrick Geuder said he'd like cherry trees in Minecraft and Dinnerbone said that if Geuder codes it, he will add it. This was not a hint that cherry trees will actually be added, let alone in 1.7. This is why I haven't added anything about cherry trees.

I wasn't trying to deduce you or anyone as incorrect in saying what is the centre of the earth. I was just pretending to be the snotty uptight guy who corrects everyone on everything to the most technical degree. You know, just trying to be funny.
Cherry trees are really an odd one out of the blue which I didn't expect, but this would make the second update I'm actually looking forward to in a row. Hopefully, we can stop the "I like the new update, I hate it, I like it..." That is getting tiring.
They're something I've been a fan of for ages. I don't really care about new biomes and stuff, though 1.7 looks like it will pull it off well; I just want my cherry trees. Would be nice if there was a mod to add that single thing, but alas they always come with tons of other things, too.
Well due to the fact that Dinnerbone i think it was, hinted cherry blossoms on twitter, i now have the strange feeling that mojangs next update is going to have some kinda biome with cherry blossoms and extra suger cane and such.
At first it was just an idea, now im going crazy thinking bout it. I am not complaining, it sounds cool... but maybe i am getting over excited.
So do you think it is possible that mojang is planning some kinda far east or asia terrain biome?
Discuss.
Things that could be added to make this update possible:
Why is it that when people think of Asia, they restrict themselves to stereotypical Japanese/Chinese features? :/
Also, there's no such thing as a generic "Far East" terrain. It can range from freezing tundras to humid tropical jungles.
Stop being so damn ignorant.
Because for the most part, thats what makes up that continent. Unless you count the part of Russia.
I understand that far east terrain can be almost anything, but i was trying to focus on the yes, stereotypical structures and things of the ancient times there. Like temples, monks, dragons. Those kinda stuff. Cherry blossoms are mostly only found in Asia, so yeah.
Stop trying to prove a point that does not exist. And please get to topic.

Far East isn't all sushi and pandas and dragons.
You're leaning a bit on the racist side here.

- Temples have existed in Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece, as well as Ancient Egypt.
- The concept of monks exist in many religions and philosophies, not restricted to those of Asia.
- Dragons? You mean this?
Also, cherry blossoms are found extensively across the world, such as Australia, Canada, Brazil, and even United States. Not only in Asia.
dirtminer, I think you should just change the title and edit the OP. I understand why you called the cherry blossoms a Far East thing but people will just keep ripping on you.
"Because for the most part, that's what makes up that continent."
....
are you kidding me
go back to school pls

What point? The fact that you're heavily stereotypical and ignorant towards Asian cultures?
How am I not on topic? Because I'm criticizing your ideas?
Topic is how there may be a new biome, yes your not on it.
As for the others, im taking the steryotypical feel of the continent, like how the stereotypical feel of the US is western cowboys and things. I don't see why you are getting worked up about. There is no point.

Isn't it kinda jumping the gun to assume that since we MAY be getting cherry blossoms we'll get all this other stuff? It's not really hinting at anything, it's just a new tree. Stuff like hieroglyphic sandstone hint at things, I don't see how a tree invites all these other ideas.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
We crawled through dirt and blood and sand to achieve our glorious victory... Not for medals, or glory ...But for what was right.

Yes yes yes!
Well actually, the core is the centre of Earth. And believe it or not, there is actually nothing in the centre of the Earth worth journeying for.

I'm sure it didn't work, though.
