I don't like redstone. I only mine it for XP, redstone lamps, and to trade it to those who do use it. This update won't do anything for me, unless they add a few non-redstone related features (Maybe the Red dragon?)
That's why it's good to play mc with you, Tim. helps me get a doublechest of redstone for my projects.
I am kinda unsure of the new features, for example the capacitor, which seem to make things too easy. I LOVE the prospect of an allocator in vanilla mc. The rail overhaul seems long overdue and I hope will let us use them for practical item transport. The prospect of my beloved BUD mechanisms breaking makes me almost weep, but I really hope they leave the glowstone/slab BUDs. I dislike the weighted pressure plate idea, but I bet it could be easily fixed with a repeater or completely ignored normally. I guess the idea of making way more redstone states useful with minimal excess wiring is cool. I'll have to wait to see, but I know it will be interesting whether or not I like the changes personally.
I decided to buy it with my money, then they ruined a much-liked feature. Sure, it has improved... slightly. But exploration is a reason many people bought the game, then found out that 1.8 changed the generator in to one that ruined exploration.
I don't care if they recently fixed bugs. Yes, it's good that they fixed bugs. However, Mojang has had PLENTY of opportunities to fix the problem. It has, after all, been a year since they ruined it in the first place. It's almost absurd that they haven't done anything until now about it. Then comes 1.5. While they COULD appease the millions of fans that want a new terrain generator, on the other hand. they could (and will) also work on redstone which isn't nearly used as often and can, in fact, be avoided fairly easily and isn't necessary at all for enjoyment.
Mojang's primary concern should be terrain; they've kept a large portion of their fanbase without decent terrain for ages, yet only recently have I seen people clamoring for redstone. Might as well, you know, appease the millions of players who actually WANT something instead of appeasing a smaller portion who doesn't want something as badly as a different group does. And the funny thing is, they won't hurt anyone; you'll still find EH-like places if you like EH. You will, however, find a vastly larger amount of things that are impossible to find in the new generator.
So, before you tell someone to "be thankful that Mojang fixed over 120 bugs", know what the hell you are actually talking about. Yes, Mojang has recently fixed a lot of bugs. No, it did not take an entire year with all of Mojang's resources being used on 120 bugs. There was plenty of time to fix this mess, and yet it was not utilized. And it still isn't being utilized.
Enough is enough. We all get that you want the terrain overhauled, yet you continue to post the same thing in different wording over and over again.
I understand that you want Mojang to 'fix' the 'broken' terrain. It's not the same thing that it once was, that's for certain. But it will be improved. Just not yet.
Let's use an analogy. You go to a restaurant and order some dinner (bought the game), which you ate when you got home, and you've had your hunger satisfied. But time begins to pass, and you get hungry again (game is no longer 'new' to you). You then proceed to access your cupboard full of food. There are different kinds of food in there, there's cookies, there's granola bars, there's chocolate (different update concepts). You want to eat the cookies, so you eat them (Mojang releases an update you like). More time passes and you want another snack, and all that's left is the granola bars and the chocolate. You want to eat the chocolate (want a terrain update), but you just had cookies, and if you had all the chocolate in the cupboard, you'd be 'worsening' your health (getting a terrain update, even though it isn't a high priority in terms of neediness). So instead you take the healthy granola bar and eat it (getting an update that IS needed, because of exploits / 'broken'-ness). Now that you had something healthier, next time you want something to eat, you can eat the chocolate (get your terrain update).
Sorry if that wasn't the best analogy for there, but I hope you get my point. Mojang is focusing on things that NEED to be done first, rather than things that are DESIRED to be done first. Please Kholdstare, I'm not trying to be rude... but your constant ravings about terrain have just gotten repetitive, to me, at least.
