Who hasn't seen those picture dinnerbone tweeted a couple days ago to which seems like a new feature that would enable us to rebuild our enchanted tools and also have the ability to rename them.
*CONFIRMED*
Anvils will be able to fall like sand and gravel.
It can cause 4 1/2 heart damage if it falls on a mob.

Well guys, dinnerbone just gave us the anvil!
He tweeted this picture of the new block surrounded by an enchantment table and a couple
of bookcase. This is going to look perfect in my enchantment room
*3 Stages of Anvil
It shows whether is about to break or not,
so that means that the Anvil has a limited usage amount.
What do you guys think?
-You like the current design?
-What other features should the anvil allow us to do?
-Should there be a hammer added too?
I'm thinking so far, this is pretty darn great. Really looking forward to this. I like the mechanics of just how it works, I like the fact that the costs seem priced properly, and I like this anvil, though it does look oddly unfinished (and it's hard to say WHY).
Would also be fine with it being an entity, whatever that would end up meaning exactly. If it gives the thing even more possibilities, all the better! It WOULD be hilarious to drop these on skeletons. I could do that for HOURS. Shoot me off cliffs, will they? I could use it to have vengeance!
I like the possibilities of this. Especially if you combine this with the ability to choose your enchantments. It would be great to be able to get Unbreaking III and Silk Touch without having to worry about having Efficiency on the same tool.
I hope it works like sand or gravel, physics wise.
But, when it fell on a mob it would make it squish into the ground under it, making it suffocate! From the player perspective, it would look like the mob squished under the anvil.
It seems pretty nice. It looks unfinished, but that doesn't matter, because Dinnerbone will fix that with time. On the subject of overall usefulness, I must say: it'll be pretty useful. Using it seems a bit pricey, but will probably be worth it when you can get the best enchantments possible. It would be nice to see this as a gravity block, but that's pretty unlikely. If they want to make a gravity block that looks nice, is useful, and can crush people, it'll probably be in the form of a piano.
This is probably just me, but shouldn't it look more like iron rather than stone? Because that what it looks like to me.
Iron rusts. Quickly. Also, tempered Iron tends to look black rather than silver. Speaking of which, wouldn't it suck if things started to tarnish, rot, and rust in Hardcore mode? You would constantly be chopping down trees just to keep your home from collapsing...

Comment with some feedback !
Edit: He might turn it into an entity so you can kill things with it!

I am ninja'd far too often.
I really do think we need a hammer there needs to be so many more tools added.
It should, except it should instantly kill or cause harm upon contact, obviously. That would be fairly useful.
WHAT?!
Danger zone.

me too. I hope it is cheap, so I can drop them on mobs.

What would happen if you added two items with similar enchantments?
For example, would Fortune I and Fortune II yield Fortune III?

Something like this would be exciting to use rather.
The above anvil is from RPGEssentials.
Hammers would be pretty interesting as well.
