I think it shall be cats and huts. I think huts should spawn in Swamps at the same rate Desert Wells spawn in Deserts. Also, I don't want just a Witch or two spawning there upon World generation, but a Witch spawner in every hut.
Personally, I really like the black cat being owned by the witch idea. I don't know how this would be incorporated, but if the black cat could somehow give you a new potion effect called "Unlucky" (from the superstition), I think that'd be pretty neat. But again, not sure how that would work out.
Huts and brooms I think. Like two species of witch, land dwelling and flying.
I think this is it as well, Dinnerbone's been saying he wants the Witch to spawn in a special place, and flying brooms are better than cats.

Off topic, but before dinnerbone does anything more with Witches, they need to be made harder. You ussualy just run up to it with any kind of sword and spam click it for a few seconds and the Witch dies. Mostly only manages to get 1 or 2 hits on you.

He has said that they are still being worked on. And if the witch is going to have a hut, that means that you will only get 1 per hut, and who knows how rare they are going to be. With that in mind, witches need to be a mini-boss in terms of difficulty, or otherwise they will become a bit of a novelty, and quickly killed for the loot.
I also like the idea of priest villager children sometimes growing up into witches instead. And witches should run away from villagers. For this reason:

They will probably be an option, like villages. I think it's fairly safe to say they'll spawn in swamps too.
If we had the old brewing system, they could have cauldrons of potions in their huts.

Anyways, yeah potions in cauldrons would be so cool. This update has added so mcuh stuff that can be used for themed maps.
