Honestly, silverfish should not be biome-specific at all, because they're supposed to surprise you. Now if I'm in a mountain biome, I'm gonna be mining the whole way thinking, "Silverfish live here, I'll probably see one."
Makes sense for certain things to only appear in certain biomes. Emeralds make it more common for people to build mountain strongholds for the purpose of getting them. Cocoa beans should only appear in jungles. Wolves in Taiga make sense.
But Silverfish in Extreme Hills only? I fail to see the logic (or lack thereof) behind this decision.
They actually spawn in Forests and Ice Plains as well. But, aside from that, I do feel that Silverfish shouldn't be limited to just Extreme Hills. Actually, considering that Extreme Hills are full of a swiss cheese combination of caves, wouldn't that leave LESS stone blocks per chunk to be generated as Silverfish blocks?
Stone monster egg blocks (which spawn Silverfish) will rarely generate underground in Extreme Hills biomes.[6] (Maybe they only found them in EH biomes for now, id like to see a Dinnerbone tweet, cause of this.) Stone Monster Eggs will now rarely generate within normal stone.[1] (No only in EH biomes thing.)

GENERATION 25: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation.
The more I think about it, the more I'm ok with Silverfish generating in one biome. But again, why Extreme Hills? Jungles or Deserts would make much more sense.

No, no it wouldn't. They live underground in this game. From what I know, cold or hot weather on the surface will not affect underground caves that are severed from the surface.
Praise be to Spode.

This stuff isn't true. Carrots and potatoes grow in villages, which can only generate in plains and deserts.
I suppose they could, but this way is much easier.
WHAT?!
Danger zone.

What if, instead of randomly generated monster blocks, we could have randomly created SILVERFISH SPAWNERS!
Isn't it awesome?
What the hell is your problem?
