Finally a mob that is a challenge in minecraft! I tested how much a zombie with an iron sword did on hard... 5 hearts of damage YESS! Also the mob attacking animations are cool too. :3
This is awsome! Though i spawned 100 zombies on hard and only 6 had a weapon or armor... I think on hard it should be harder! like every zombie and skeleton has leather armor and there regular weps. Then better zombies and such spawn with better armor or somthing like that! Cant wait!
Well 1.3 took so many months and barely added anything (aside from everything internal) that 1.4 has something new and we've been waiting a while so everyone is going to be excited.

Uhh.. villager trading, emeralds, new block placements, writable books, new dungeons, enchantment changes, tripwires, new stairs and slabs, the enderchest, snow sheets/portal blocks in creative, new creative menu..
Yeah, not a whole lot but..
more then pretty much all the other updates until now?
It's only been a week, the primary bulletpoints of the update (Mod API, performance increases and lighting fixes) aren't even on the table yet, and yet it is already set to be an amazing update. That's the good stuff.
Minecraft is many things, but challenging combat gameplay is not one of its features. There are other games that do that far better, and 1.4 is not going to change much in this regard.
I'm looking forward to the mod API and hopefully the ID system change to increase available items and blocks. It'd be nice if they added the ability to use multiple sprite indexes, too.

God, why doesn't anybody note the many features that Vechs requested to Dinnerbones, something as big as that should be noted in every list.
I'd be excited even if it was just for the frames, flower pots, fencing and the like. My houses tend to always look drab. Some atmosphere is always nice.
Adding in the armoured and weaponed zombies and skeletons just ups the ante significantly. Couple that with Mod API and it's going to be a rather fine update indeed.
EDIT: Also, if anyone sees a spider rider with armour and a weapon, they should show it off. I'd love to see how they look.
