I suggest you put a link to this program up in the OP. Easy and completely legal way of reverting back to a previous version of Minecraft. It doesn't redistribute the game files any more than a mod does. viewtopic.php?f=1022&t=113094
Since we paid for the game, i think we should have an option to also down-grade to older versions, it would end a lot of it going on in the forums and some pirates...

I'm not sure why people are freaking out about 1.4. Both servers that I admin on are already back up with 1.4. If a server isn't up it's the admins fault, not notch's and not anybody else's.
It's nothing to do with servers being back up. It's the ungodly lag that now exists. My best friend who has had years of server admin experience, like myself had been running a 1.3 server and it ran incredibly well. We would stay up all night building things, soon as I upgraded to 1.4 and he did as well (server & client) it became unplayable , if i type something it takes about a minute for it to popup. most actions take between 30 seconds to a minute. Now if i run 1.4 locally single player it runs very fast.

It must be something on your end. All the servers I play have updated to 1.4 and the lag isnt any worse.

How to feel cool on Minecraft forums:
>New Feature is announced
>Begin claiming it ruins the game "MINECRAFT ISN'T A BED/DOG/HAVING FUN SIMULATOR, IT'S ABOUT STANDING IN YOUR HOUSE WITH NOTHING TO DO ALL DAY REMOVE EVERY FEATURE GUH"
I don't see what the big deal is with 1.4 and multiplayer servers, besides the fact that the server owners have to wait for new versions of plugins to be updated for 1.4. So I am just waiting for that to happen before I go back to my multiplayer server.
The only problem I have with the wolves are the fact they eat sheep. As someone who collects wool, it is annoying. Yes, I do find wool lying on the ground in places, but I'd still rather get it from the sheep myself.
I agree though that distributing any versions of the game is illegal and shouldn't be allowed. Having legal access to downgrade would be nice and swell though.
Well, you can't blame citricsquid or any other staff member for this stuff. It is simply against the law to do that kind of stuff stated above.
It is copyright violation to play the game without paying for it. It is against the forum rules (NOT illegal) to post older versions here.
HUGE difference
it IS illegal to distribute a copyrighted program that is not your property. buying Minecraft does NOT mean you own it, it means you are licensed to USE it. and don't give me crap about it being a U.S. law..because it's not. it is an INTERNATIONAL law. that is the reason games aren't available to be sold in some countries, because they refuse to abide by said international laws. if Mojang so wished to do so they can sue anyone who redistributes Minecraft.

He doesn't use server plugins, we just want the basic pure minecraft experience. I don't believe in 3rd party addons. :smile.gif: I was the legendary guy who used to play WoW with not 1 addon. :tongue.gif:

I don't know who you mean by 'he' but the owner of the multiplayer server I play on does, in fact, use plugins. Or did, before the 1.4 update.
I do enjoy playing the game without them though, but for a multiplayer server it is sometimes needed. Plugins where your chests and houses are protected from damage by other players is a nice feature. Also, the ability to set multiple spawn points is handy too, although when the minecraft staff fixes the new 1.4 beds, then there won't really be a need for said features... Besides maybe having more than one spawn point that you can choose from and teleport to.
I've never played WoW personally, so I wouldn't know, but I'd think that playing some games without updating them would be... Well, a bad idea.
Not if nobody knows...lol you cant get in trouble if no one knows about it.
That is your problem, pretty sure it's illegal. But it's your business.

It's getting popular, and that's bad.
