I have never heard of anything like this... I'd need much more testing to have a solid solution/idea, as it's too vague.
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: After I create a new world (i've done both survival and creation) it loads up the game like normal, it then goes black screen for a few seconds, then flashes white very fast that has some text on it, too fast to make out what it says, it then goes back to black screen and stays black screen.

What issues does the bug Cause: Texture issues on Brick and Stone brick stairs. (part of the textures appear black)
Specific conditions it occurs in if applicable: No matter the orientation placed the stairs have black textures on certain sides. However with wooden stairs (when used as a peaked ceiling) I found light sources are able to shine through them. I have been unable to replicate the light phenomena.

Cause: loading any world, pre or post 1.8 or trying to join any server
Bug: Loading world/joining server cause normal terrain generation and loading page to come up as usual, then when it's finished loading there is a black screen, several seconds pause, the a white flash as an error message opens for too short a time to read even one letter. After that; endless black screening until minecraft is quit.
