Chk... Buh... Wha? I'm not a programmer or anything, so... Yes he confirmed that our 1.7 worlds will work as normal, just i'll probably get some radical chunk generation near the 1.7 chunks? (My brain hurts...)
In new lands (created after you update to 1.8), the new terrain code will take effect. More mountains, bigger biomes, and such things.Your old land, and new land, won't mix well. You may be walking along a desert, then suddenly a new chunk loads, and it may be a snowy mountain 30 blocks up in the sky in front of you.
Basically old Terrain and new terrain do like each other, and have conflicting views on how to make worlds.
Your world should be fine, but you'll see some ugly issues with terrain when you hit 1.8 along the edge of 'new land'.

Thank the spirits. I've been getting all worked up over this and hoping to whatever gods that might exist that at least my effort is preserved and wasn't for nothing. x=x
I actually noticed the slabs because for a second the mouse was hovered over the Stone Brick Slabs showing the text.
I was JUST about to talk about this part of the video hahaha. yes, I see the slabs confirmed, already added. Lemme go modify the picture to point out my curiosity.
I'm pretty sure the one you're not sure on is bedrock. I didn't think you'd be able to place it in creative at first but since I saw in another video notch breaking some bedrock while in creative I imagine you'll be able to place it as well.
As for the iron whatever they are, hopefully we'll get a good shot of them in game today. =)
(I did my image in MS Paint too, it just looks good because it's straight screenshot =b )

Could be. Though it seems odd to place bedrock beside ore-blocks. And it seems a smidge differently...
kotaku has rekeased a video where they talk about a new difficulty rating four and a half minutes into the video just check the link below for more information (hopefully)

It does seem like an odd spot, though I'm not sure what spot wouldn't seem odd to me. It really does look slightly off too... It's the only item besides the supposed fence gate (the flat wood texture thing) that I'm not 100% sure on now.

Yes, I don't think that's the gate yet. That was there before in 1.6 and before, I remember seeing it, and if I recall, it spawned the bottom-half of a door.
There is a detail Notch mentioned in the first livestream at 33:20.
Cloud level has been raised "way higher up".
Not sure what this means but I assume higher then you are able to build blocks.
So no more clouds within your lighthouse/mountain fortress/magician´s tower.
That doesn't make sense.
They're already at like 108 height. Max is 128. So either they're now above sky limit, or he's going to up the height of the map as a surprise, though I doubt this.
Took three shots of the inventory to get all the new blocks/items, and I felt like being fancy so I timed my print screen instead of pausing to get rid of annoying play circle. =b
The mystery block looks different from bedrock, IMO.
And its position would indicate that it's crafted from nine constituents.
If the order of these blocks matches their ores, it would be a... Coal block?
Why do we need a coal block? I'm probably wrong about this. xD

Here's the result:
Brilliant. Thanks. I'll go modify it now, and point out... oddities.

Exactly why I'm puzzled. It resembles bedrock, but looks more gravelly... and it's positioned beside ore blocks, and other out of place stuff, where it would be near clean-stone or such imo.
And it doesn't look coal block to me. We'll see. Lemme go edit this image :tongue.gif:

That would seem to make since considering it is in between the ore blocks instead of next to them and I would love to get a coal block just for more blocks to play with, but... I think it would be a horribly ugly coal block, so I hope that's not what it is. =b Watching the video I'm pretty sure it's bedrock, but I haven't been able to get a good pic of it to confirm that.
Thanks for the thread, it was annoying seeing all the fake "ZOMG ME PHINK DAT IT IZ SUNDAI ME HAZ NO PROOF ME ARE GUESSING BUT ME SAY IT IS CONFRIMD LOLOL"
Didn't Notch say in the video http://au.ign.com/videos/2011/08/27/pax-minecraft-new-updates-commentary at 07:45 "The 1.8 update is probably going to be split into 2 parts, because it's getting too large, so we're going to release the first part very soon like within a couple of weeks, then we'll finish up the rest and release it as 1.9"? And one more thing, when you are charging your arrow, the camera begins to zoom in slowly on your cross-hair, as seen in the video above as well.

Not a problem! More info coming :smile.gif:
