I discovered one on my new 1.8 map. It was a truly creepy experience, running into another person's forgotten work. I'll try and grab a screenshot later on for you.
alternately find a cave or a ravine... chances are they'll end up in one... especially ravines... i find it hard to find caves and ravines that don't end up in abandoned mines.
edit: although my current world was started in pre-release... and they seemed to be much more common then.
if you still can't find them, download cartograph and do a search for minecart tracks.
Make sure that you're not playing on a server or an old 1.7 world, and also make sure you set generate structures to on. They are very common so you shouldn't have any trouble finding one.
Depends on the map my current map doesnt have one anywere within my biome.
Offtopic kinda: I think the mineshafts should be very long instead of so clustered there really a mess and no one would ever mine that way especially with minetracks in mind.
Havn't been playing on minecraft on multiplayer long have you?? :tongue.gif:
Actually I have :wink.gif:
I do get the joke but,
The multiplayer ones are super long and/or checkerboard style, these ones are a clustered mess and do often run into each other but there not 3feet long hallways stacked at odd angles .
Thanks
you'll find one.

You can use this texture pack if your having problems finding them, I dont recommend leaving it on very long tho it can be a game ruiner.
