OK. before you begin trolling on how "AWESOME" 1.8 is let me give my argument some reasons for my dislike of 1.8 '
1.) 1.8 added creative mode for the longest time(1.5_01) ive been trying to NOT inventory edit and i know creative mode is toggle able but its there and its like notch wants people to not work for their stuff. whats the point of making a building if u didn't work hard for it?
2.) as i stated in the polls ravines are another hazard for me ive fallen into more than i care to count in the short time mc 1.8 has been out
3.) Idk if this is a bug or official but endermen dont attack at all even if i stare at them for a bit last i checked endermen are supposed to attack after you look at them....
4.)cave spiders blame me for this i hate spiders in real life and mc so that's just me probably .
5.)npc villages i understand that they will have npc in them but u can still slaughter the entire town and live there so theres no point in playing mc if you have your shelter, food, crafting table, and smelters along with a well in the villages
ok now that you have seen what i hate about 1.8 i feel the need to tell that i do like some aspects of 1.8.
1.) i do like the new lighting engine i think it looks great
2.) i like the new stone bricks as well
3.) i like the new biome terrain generation too it is really nice
and thats all i really like about 1.8 along with a few bug fixes and such that's it.
so before you start saying if you hate 1.8 so much then go play 1.7 or something well i already have i found a minecraft down grader and im playing 1.7.3 with the plasmacraft and buildcraft mods and im having a blast.
if anyone updated and wants 1.8 gone heres the down grader.
1.) Many people enjoy building things without having to grind and grind and grind for supplies. I get a sense of satisfaction when I make something that looks awesome, regardless if I'm cheating or not.

5.) I don't think we should be so quick to judge. Hopefully 1.9 NPC's will do something about players who steal or try to live in their houses.

You didn't even list the glaring issues really, which seem to be the fact he's taking the game in a RPG direction, and lag. Also the hunger is annoying and makes you nearly invincible now since you have to eat often.
You didn't even list the glaring issues really, which seem to be the fact he's taking the game in a RPG direction. Also the hunger is annoying and makes you nearly invincible now since you have to eat often.
I, for one, enjoy the new features. Having a hunger bar means you have to think about what you're doing. There is a reason the game is called "Survival," you know? If you want to play a resource-gathering, construction, and mob-bashing game, play on Easy, Normal, or Hard. If you want to play a resource-gathering construction game, play on Peaceful. If you want to place 5,000 TNT and melt your CPU, play on Creative (eheheh).
I don't understand what you mean by "the hunger is annoying and makes you nearly invincible now since you have to eat often". You heal more slowly, so if anything you're more vulnerable.
OK. before you begin trolling on how "AWESOME" 1.8 is let me give my argument some reasons for my dislike of 1.8 '
1.) 1.8 added creative mode for the longest time(1.5_01) ive been trying to NOT inventory edit and i know creative mode is toggle able but its there and its like notch wants people to not work for their stuff. whats the point of making a building if u didn't work hard for it?
Because ppl just want to just build stuff. Whats wrong with just wanting to build without dealing with creepers/getting materials? Its something easily ignored. So if you dont like to play that way dont play creative. Easy as that.
2.) as i stated in the polls ravines are another hazard for me ive fallen into more than i care to count in the short time mc 1.8 has been out
Yes because extra obstacles are somehow bad? Pay more attention to where you go. Its as simple as that really.
3.) Idk if this is a bug or official but endermen dont attack at all even if i stare at them for a bit last i checked endermen are supposed to attack after you look at them....
No. When you stare at them they 'notice' you and they stare back. However if you turn your back on them they will teleport/move quickly towards you and attack. The second your cursor is not on them they have the ability to attack you.
4.)cave spiders blame me for this i hate spiders in real life and mc so that's just me probably .
Yeah probably. Get someone to make you a mod that deletes spiders and put in something else?
5.)npc villages i understand that they will have npc in them but u can still slaughter the entire town and live there so theres no point in playing mc if you have your shelter, food, crafting table, and smelters along with a well in the villages
Shelter is easy to build. Get dirt, make small house. Get wood, make wood pick, mine stone, make stone pick, get cobblestone. Make house. Cut wood, make crafting table. Get cobblestone, make forge. Kill pigs. All of that is EASILY accomplished within your first day. To make it easier, you can just dig a hole and carve out a nice little home for you. So its pointless to play beyond the first day?
Also structures are actually optional. In the same screen you put your seed in it gives you an option. 'Generate Structures' you can turn it on or off. Turning it off means no villages and so on.
4.) Agreed, cave spiders could use a
Yeah how exactly? I mean turn on Easy and boom they are just smaller versions of the big ones you are already familiar with. They dont poison you on Easy. But they do on normal/hard.
OK. before you begin trolling on how "AWESOME" 1.8 is let me give my argument some reasons for my dislike of 1.8 '
1.) 1.8 added creative mode for the longest time(1.5_01) ive been trying to NOT inventory edit and i know creative mode is toggle able but its there and its like notch wants people to not work for their stuff. whats the point of making a building if u didn't work hard for it?
It gives people the option to just build things without having to mine for all the blocks. It's not cheating as it isn't a survival map.
2.) as i stated in the polls ravines are another hazard for me ive fallen into more than i care to count in the short time mc 1.8 has been out
Open your eyes, it's not hard to see them. Worst case spend some time fencing one off. I love the ravines, They add a whole new way to explore the world around us.
3.) Idk if this is a bug or official but endermen dont attack at all even if i stare at them for a bit last i checked endermen are supposed to attack after you look at them....
I believe this is a bug. They seem to be flippant to wanting to hurt me. One minute they attack after I look away. The next minute they dont.
4.)cave spiders blame me for this i hate spiders in real life and mc so that's just me probably .
They. are part of the game along with the normal spiders.
5.)npc villages i understand that they will have npc in them but u can still slaughter the entire town and live there so theres no point in playing mc if you have your shelter, food, crafting table, and smelters along with a well in the villages
Umm ... you don't have to slaughter the NPC's once they are implemented. You can just walk past the whole village and build a house elsewhere. Oh and since you don't like the Ravines or the Villages turn them off in the world options :wink.gif:
so before you start saying if you hate 1.8 so much then go play 1.7 or something well i already have i found a minecraft down grader and im playing 1.7.3 with the plasmacraft and buildcraft mods and im having a blast.
It is completely your choice to downgrade, enjoy living in the past. Minecraft is in Beta as you should hopefully know. This means things are going to change, some for the good some for the bad. What we want to see Minecraft evolve into will be different to what Notch and Jeb in vision it to be. Yeah sometimes they stuff up and add something that isn't quite right, guess what, we cant do anything about it. All you can do is keep playing the updated version or keep living in the past. It's your choice, I'm gonna enjoy living in the future of Minecraft where its always exciting, and not stale.

Please learn to use the search bar. 22-11-11The day I finally realized exactly how immature this community can be
1.) 1.8 added creative mode for the longest time(1.5_01) ive been trying to NOT inventory edit and i know creative mode is toggle able but its there and its like notch wants people to not work for their stuff. whats the point of making a building if u didn't work hard for it?
Simply play obligate survival. All this did was add something readily available to the modding community into vanilla. It's good because sometimes people want to build crazy large structures or machines. While they might be willing to spend 5 hours planning and placing blocks, they probably don't want to spend 50 hours traveling all over creation looking for enough wool and dyes to recreate 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte'
2.) as I stated in the polls ravines are another hazard for me ive fallen into more than i care to count in the short time mc 1.8 has been out
You just got to watch your step. I've only died to a ravine once, and that was with a transparent texture pack looking for strongholds.
3.) Idk if this is a bug or official but endermen dont attack at all even if i stare at them for a bit last i checked endermen are supposed to attack after you look at them....
it's a known bug in SMP. Considering how long we had NO mobs in SMP it might take them a while to fix.
4.)cave spiders blame me for this i hate spiders in real life and mc so that's just me probably .
Spiders are, perhaps, the least interesting mob in my opinion. I like the webs though.
5.)npc villages i understand that they will have npc in them but u can still slaughter the entire town and live there so theres no point in playing mc if you have your shelter, food, crafting table, and smelters along with a well in the villages
well, you can make a small dirt hut much quicker than you can fine a village. You still end up making a larger nicer house though.
voted other for the dislike section as I don't really have any dislikes of the patch. I like new content, I like prettier lighting, I like vanilla access to creative.
I don't understand what you mean by "the hunger is annoying and makes you nearly invincible now since you have to eat often". You heal more slowly, so if anything you're more vulnerable.
What? This adds no "thinking" at all, bring food... I liked survival the way it was and never stated other-wise, and that has nothing to do with it being "to hard" if anything it's to easy. What I meant by hunger is now I am always eating, and obviously with the meter on the screen it makes you remember to bring food instead of just needing it for HP. So now I automatically bring a ton of food when I go anywhere, which also heals and thus now I am nearly always at full health. He just needs to add a way to turn that off.
I voted that it was good. I liked it for most everything: creative mode, the new blocks/items, the new combat mechanics, the GORGEOUS new world generation, and signs of civilization lost. For the things that are great though, there are things that are really bloody bad: Void fog (totally broken and unless it's justified somehow, a retarded, retarded idea), Endermen moving blocks* and the need to carry excessive amounts of food on you if you don't want to go running back to base every so often.
The rest is small beans, and generally I would say the update is great. It adds a lot of polish to the game, and while it's obviously not complete, it's a step in the right direction.
*I say Endermen's moving of blocks is a horrible idea and not just an annoyance for the same reason that I hate vines: Left unchecked, they will wreck your entire world. I put "gorgeous" in caps because I love Minecraft's new scenery. I don't want to have to run to bed at sundown every day to avoid having Endermen pick apart that nice scenery block by block. I know I can do maintenance runs, replacing wood on trees and stuff like that, or flood my occupied land with torches. But neither of those solutions should be necessary. I like the Poltergeist-vibe they have of moving just a couple of blocks out of place, but given time, they will totally trash the environment via death of a thousand cuts.
Personally, I like the update. I understand that some people may not like that the game is starting to turn more into an RPG rather than the sandbox game it was in the previous update. Personally I want it to become more of the RPG. It gives you higher rewards for the risks of fighting mobs, and with NPCs and bosses it may make the game more accessible to new players that may not be as creatively inclined as others, and the goal of trying to find said bosses or NPC villages, may help those players work toward the more creative aspect once they have made some progress in the "Adventure" aspect.
and I also enjoy that there are so many options.
like people have said, the ravines, and villages are currently optional, as well as the creative mode.
As long as those all STAY optional, it will make multiple parties happy.
With the update as a whole it is obviously unfinished, the EXP does nothing right now, the NPC villages have no NPCs, there are some glitches with endermen, but overall, the game is still a beta. Even though it's currently flawed, it's beginning to show what Notch wants to happen to the game, and so far I'm liking it.
You didn't even list the glaring issues really, which seem to be the fact he's taking the game in a RPG direction, and lag. Also the hunger is annoying and makes you nearly invincible now since you have to eat often.
I absolutely adore the ravines and mine shafts. You can finally explore your way down to bedrock instead of the boring way of building your own. Endermen pose no threat when you fence off your structures (can't pick up fences or gates), but I have yet to encounter a stronghold or silverfish.
NPC villages make the pyro in me happy. Also it takes 30 seconds to build a shelter, so why are there complaints?
I love the new lighting, it no longer looks like a staggered update mess during dawn and dusk.
Also love the FOV option, Quake pro lets me see those creepers trying to creep.
The grand oceans and larger biomes make exploring much more worth it, if only to get resources.
if you are building a mob farm, use double half slabs, easier to find and make than obsidian. tested and proven that enderman can't pick them up. plus mobs spawn on them.
I wish the xp system recorded something, like how many times you leveled up instead of nothing.
New combat methods such as critical and bow charging are fun, My arrow stacks last much longer than before.
Food and recovery can use a little tweaking, such as not being able to die on a full hunger bar, but overall is much more fun. For light and medium encounters, you regenerate quick enough that it shouldn't be much of a problem. If you are armored, large amounts of mobs can be no trouble (ie 2 creepers blowing up next to you and a skeleton shooting you), you take so little damage that you will regen to full pretty much after every blow. Instant recovery felt out of place and was cumbersome, especially when food didn't stack.
I am not a fan of void fog, but it did let me know I was close to the bottom.
Where was that ever stated by Notch please inform me? It was originally a extension of infiniminer.
Also love the FOV option, Quake pro lets me see those creepers trying to creep.
Hrm more easy mode, love the WoW approach Notch is taking. I bought this game since he was a indie developer hoping for something new and different. He did make something new, but different is starting to fade with these updates.
