i think the idea of hunger was to deter people from going "i have 1 torch in my 1x2 hole in the ground, i beat minecraft." your hunger doesn't go down unless you take damage, so the "take damage-eat food" method still applies. you can't swim in lava with an inventory full of golden apples anymore, which is a bit disappointing to me, still, i actually like hunger, it adds a new element to survival servers whereas before you could live in a huge city and never have to do jack **** to survive. hunger aside, i do have to agree with you on the experience thing. experience is just annoying, the only real use for it would be to make it red so it looks like gore. other than that you really need mods to use it at all. most of my issues are with terrane generation, mostly the way ravines spawn. they spawn everywhere, underground, above ground, in lakes and oceans. they are just ridiculous. i'll be walking in a forest just to be killed by falling down a ravine.

if it was too hard for you to find me...
With that out of the way, I'm going to discuss the two changes that have absolutely killed whatever good would have come from the 1.8 patch: hunger and experience.
To the OP.
Wow man, you do know that a creative mode is available now right?
Afaik, it has none of the features that you stated in your post.
You haven't even seen experience yet you stupid little ****. Notch has already confirmed that it isn't a "stats/skills" system, and that it's more of a "killstreak" system.
On the other note, I personally enjoy hunger. I find it making battles involve some hit/step-back/block action without just jamming the "OM NOM NOM" button, then going back to your rapid sword clicking. Besides, can you really not take the thirty seconds out of your hour of crafting to find a pig and kill it?
Lastly, health regeneration and taking time to eat. To your shock, I somewhat dislike this.
Mushroom soup = Cooked pork pisses me off. However, it stops the annoying food-eating pvp spam, so I don't mind it enough to keep me off 1.8.

Cry a river. Punch a tree. Craft and build a wooden bridge over the river. Use your bridge to GET OVER IT.
(My heavily seeded with sarcasm post about, how he placed his sole opinion about hunger plugins on severs in the past just because he never saw a server with it.)
I said nothing about surveying the entirety of people in existence. I have, however, played on a great many servers, and almost none of them ran hunger plugins.
(My post about, It is Mojang's way of going about hunger.)
Just like George Lucas!
(My post about, hunger not being difficult)
Dreizehn. :tongue.gif:
At this point, my tolerance for epic fail has been pushed to the max, so I need to take a break before responding to the rest of this thread.
Well it seems I'm on your cute little list, which I'm very proud of I might add . . . I don't want to be your friend mate. Your a negative nancy with a slice of hasty assumptions; your a glass so half empty It might actually be sewage water.
But on to the fine points here. You certainly picked the best diamonds* from my post (as a whole) that tore the core of your opinion to the ground and savagely raped it with logic.
Quote one, I understand sarcasm is much more difficult to pick up on the internet, but I'm fairly sure it was obvious in the first quote you've selected. As for your response, well i'm sure you did play on "a great many servers."** But yet again you are only basing that opinion on personal experience. I woulden't doubt, if you acctualy cared about being right, which I assume you don't.*** You could most likely locate someone who played on the servers featuring hunger plugins and even enjoyed it.
Quote two, George Lucas . . . I'll consider this a Freudian slip (parapraxis)****, because the Lucas situation in comparison to my point in your second quote choice isn't even remotely near the release of hunger in a game made by the creator rather than mods.
Quote Three, German, you must be so educated* to add me to your tiny list of people as number 13. (Thanks for the add again) Don't worry, as a member of your list I'll be sure to keep on shooting you down as much as possible.
Here's something just as interesting as the negation idea. You added me to a list? Well I'll just remove it . . . yep I'm off the list now . . . I can do anything to your virtual list. Hell, even better, I can put you on the list instead. Messing around with things that don't exist is amusing . . . no wonder people like to role play.
*This is sarcasm, the footnote is for your benefit as you aren't good at realizing it **More sarcasm, as I don't believe anyone on the internet ***Because you aren't. ****Don't bring your distaste for George Lucas's re-releases into a argument that has no similarities at all.

Anyway i like the hunger system. The survival elements of the game have always compelled me and adding more of them makes it more interesting. Since i used to play wiht survivalism and finite water having to eat and drink, the changes do not represent an increased difficulty. They are actually much easier then having to eat and drink. In MC now you only need to eat to resupply your ability to run.
Survival Mode: Just that. Survive. You needed food to survive before. How does that change anything? Survival mode is working to survive. Truth? I have about 50 wheat planted in a farm I have fenced in. Do you understand how much bread that makes me? Let alone how easy it is to get meat from animals and mushrooms for soup. Me and my buddy have been playing on a survival server we put together locally, and between us in under 2 hours, we had more than enough food to survive. Now we both have farms and our stock is full on food.
How does hunger make it any different?
Experience? Why the hell not. I know a few people who thought an experience system / skill system would be quite fun. Many servers use plugins for it.
To be honest, from every thing you ***** about, I think you wouldn't like any of them because you're lazy and would require you to give some kind of effort to actually play the game.
And as for building awesome ****, go play creative mode.

Thats what you get for not looking where you're walking.
Hunger is ****in awesome! And you are retarded for thinking exp sucks since it does absolutely nothing. Even if you want to not play when it DOES do something then that is still an irrelevant argument against 1.8.1. I personally have wanted a hunger system since minecraft started, especially since it makes sense to have to eat in SURVIVAL mode. I have always used mods for hunger and food and I am so happy he added these. Anyways, if you stop playing it's only your loss of time and money, doesn't affect us one bit so why even mention it. Again, this is the Minecraft Forum, not the ***** About How I Spent My Money Forum.
your entire argument became invalid when you said minecraft is about building awesome ****, Play creative if thats your perception. to others its about surviving and building up whilst under pressure hence the health bar provides that pressure. it was easy just to eat a pork chop and go to full health but its more fun to have to be careful about what you get an a fight with etc.
I'm pretty sure people didn't use hunger plugins because they were laggy, and often glitchy. I like the new hunger system, it adds challenge to the game. You're not just running around forever without ,uch of a worry. In SMP this will allow food stores to open up since there will be a higher demand for food than previously. But your opinion is your opinion, so think whatever you want.
XP does nothing of course. The update wasn't really finished, so the rest of it will be released in 1.9. Think of having XP as a time to kill mobs and build up XP before it has a use. That way when it has a use, you can actually do stuff with it with a bunch of levels, rather than xp being released next update and having to start training then.
