Everything that you said you hated makes the game more realistic... You can't live without food... underground it can be pretty foggy/dusty, and the view turning is awesome... very realistic. The only thing I dislike is the Purple Enderman eyes... should be red.
You can change the color of the eyes its in the mob folder :tongue.gif:
the problem I have with the update is the Ice. the only reason I noticed it was my attempts at making an ice house.
Most people make self building coble stone houses but I decided to make a self building ice house. Now the water douse not freeze and my house is only half complete.
And this matters... Why? It does the same thing with a slightly different interface, an OPTION to update rather than forcibly autoupdating, and lets you decide if you want to get a new copy of the jarfile rather than deleting it and waiting for it to redownload. And, it shows patch notes.
Just because you like something obsolete does not automatically make it functionally better.
I never said it was better, I'd just kept using that because that was what I'd had ever since I'd bought the game. Having to switch wasn't a pain, it was just a little bit of a nuisance.
But seriously, the spawn rate of abandoned mines (is too damn high). Can't strip mine without running into 5 of em'. OH and my whole modpack with 60+ mods broke. Yay. :sad.gif:
But the 1.8 update is still pretty good. Doesn't top the 2010 Halloween Update. At least the Halloween update didn't turn this game into a damn RPG.
Admit it, we all saw 1.8 as the god among updates, the one that was going to make this game tons of fun with lots more adventure, killing, and exploring. While it is pretty amazing and has breathed new life into the game for me, there are lots of things that shouldn't have been changed and don't have an option of some sort to change it back.
So, here is my brief list of things that should have options/removed. I will add to it if anyone posts and just keep making a larger list.
The shorter render distance underground
The view turning
Hunger bar
Lag
No snow
Out of memory errors
Ender-griffers
I will try to check this thread regularly and try to update is as much as I can. So please, post yours!
EDIT: Please do not post things like "your wrawng trololo" because I'd like this to be an open-ended discussion. Not someone yelling at some troll.
No, I like all of those things. It's the animal spawning which messed it up. In my opinion, Mojang really dropped the ball on that.

lack of wolves, lack of mobs spawning properly, wool not regrowing and creepers spawning in four packs... also when a creeper teleported behind me, blew me off a ledge into 2 other creepers >.<
The big change in world creation making old worlds obsolete always stings a bit...
Many of the changes seem to be focused towards a new "Adventure" mode that's a departure in concept from what we've come to see as Survival mode. The passive mob logic change, enderman changing terrain, hunger, running, mineshafts, etc. It's focus is more on moving around, exploring, and hunting. They don't compliment the notion of staying and building in one place.
Which is odd since pistons are a significantly awesome addition for permanent automated constructs.
For me the thing that ruined the game is the fact that animals don't despawn. o sure they respawn but in the biome my house is in, their are animals that don't despawn hidden in caves or something. Because of this they don't respawn in my biome EVER. I have to cross over this giant mountain just to find some cows :sad.gif:.

I agree... the render distance dropping to about 10 blocks below layer 20-something is irritating.
Enders griefing suck.
Most of my out of memory errors were becuase the graphics back end overheats my GPU on slower fan settings. I turned the fans up to full speed... little noisy but it works fine.
The new biome code works but sometimes you end up with a continent that has all one biome, and no other contients anywhere on it. My most recent one has nothing but deserts and pine forests and little bit of plains and jungle... nothing else. Not even a diversity of trees.
The treasure in mines sucks. I will avoid them in the future. I'm not interested in riding pigs... let alone a dozen of them. The iron and wheat are nice but I don't find much else useful that I couldn't get from exploring standard caves.
Found one ravine... meh... it was flooded out for the most part.
The new lighting system is ok but with the view distance underground it just means we have to use 4 times the torches and still can't see crap.
Alot of the other stuff is cool, though.. I found a town once and it was quaint. No clue where to find a stronghold so it could be 2.0 before I get to weigh in on one of those.

what ruined it for me was everyone complaining about it when it is in beta
No satisfaction in building if all the materials are just handed to you for free.
Hunger isn't even a nuisance, if anything the game is easier. Every animal gives you food, and chickens are a renewable resource now. Not to mention farms (mushrooms, melons, wheat) and zombies.
Now it just crash my server :sad.gif:

hunger bar
the fact that enderman can actually move blocks (they keep griefing my house)
new chests cuz they look so stupid the way they are smaller now

Creative Mode.
Peaceful.
Deal with it.

Negates all monster farms and makes some materials impossible to obtain.
**** you. :biggrin.gif:

I personally love enderman.

Honestly? Defending your house against Endermen is ridiculously easy. Try water.
That 'deal with it' was valid. The chests are smaller? THAT ruined it for you?
This it's so ****ING hard to hold F3 and hit F it makes me cringe!!!!!!
