On top of that, the farther you go out, the more water there is, giving us less space to work with. Why didn't they just bring Minecraft back to the indev phase?
As long as Minecraft is like that, I will stick with beta 1.7.3.

Why dont you just make a new map? Not every seed is like that.

that only happens when you walk several billion blocks away from spawn.
No kidding, OP. I've been building on a small island and exploring the water surrounding it for days; still haven't found a continent yet. What's really hard is trying to keep yourself oriented through the use of ingame maps; I always bring about 30 compasses and 250 pages with me for crafting new maps. I've fully explored about 40, and I still haven't found "land" yet.
I didn't make it myself, it got randomly generated. If you want to play it, just make a new world and enter the seed I posted in the OP.
By map I do not believe he means your overworld, but the photo of your map. The actual image that is not like the map item we get to use in minecraft. I myself have been trying to find a program that renders map images in such a fashion, but to no avail because people cannot seem to understand that a "map" is a picture of land, not the land itself, which is the "world"
I've been having fun trying seeds that start on small islands with only a few trees and nothing but ocean as far as the eye can see and see how far I can get with it. Food is problematic early on with such starts though, I've not seen a tiny island start yet that had any animals, so you'd best get some seeds ASAP.

This is a problem? I think it's awesome. You have exactly the same amount of space, by the way. Just learn to be amphibious.

I use a tool called "Cartographer G", it can be found here on the forum.
Also, I just updated the OP with a new 2000x2000 map, no land found yet.
I've generated 6 new worlds and havn't found a decent continent or mountain range yet.The mountains they do have are as phony looking as the clouds are now.I see mostly water, stepped grasslands, and small areas of vined trees in water(swamps?).The villages will be ok once there are n.p.c.'s but their landscape is not where I want to be.At least you can harvest wood in the abandoned mines.I think I'll wait till all the mods are updated to play now.
I am in love with this map. Thank you so much for the seed. (I've been exploring - if you go far enough, you DO reach the edge of the ocean, or at least, larger islands. This actually creates this awesome coastal terrain, I may post some of my explorations in a bit).
I used the seed "Leave random for a blank seed", and i got an ocean as well, The spawn is on this odd chain of square cliff islands jutting out of the ocean. Good thing i was in creative mode. I have no pictures of it though, sorry.

Warning, large images ahead.

I guess that could work. But it's to bad they got rid of the far lands.
Pffft sure what is this 1998 I bet - HOLY ****'
Nice one OP
Anyone have a solution to animals not spawning on islands though?
The important part is around 5:14. But he gets into more detail before (and maybe after) that.
(This is from the OP's seed.)
