Personally I still prefer the idea of light sources piercing the "fog" since it's just ridiculous how it works at the moment, but a simple compromise would make it a world based setting. The world as a whole, at creation, will either have the fog added or excluded. This would allow a server to have control over whether or not it is there as well. In this situation, if someone were to make something that utilizes the fog, anyone participating in it would have to deal with it.
which would totally solve the problem for both the dark maze creators (didn't realize that was a thing) and those of us who build from bedrock up
i figure i'll just suck it up and learn to like building on the surface.
People can just install a mod that removes the fog and your precious maze won't be played correctly anyway.
You do realize that what you are saying here is that you think your creation are far more important than other peoples creations? That doesn't paint your person in a very good light.
Why do people on a rant never read replies properly?
"If it becomes toggable or not is something I can live with quite easily."
Where did I say my view was more important again? Oh yes, I didn't...
And no, they cannot use a mod unless it is purely client side and doesn't clash with our SMP as that is the only place I build them.

I believe the "fog" is a lighting restriction. Which, if a mod were made to remove it, would cancel it out entirely. This is because it would just be a display feature, like texture packs(just more complicated to change).
Blimey, You really don't read do you or are attempting, very badly, to make it look like you are the only good guy in the thread (pointless).
As I have stated several times now (well, twice) I have no problem with the toggle...
And now I'm acting in his defense instead lol, he did say prefer, which is also the word you used. So he wasn't accusing you of being 100% against it. Just confirming that it is your preference that it be there with no option to change it.
So you'd actually prefer that no one could play this game without the fog just because of something you created.
i'm just as upset as you to lose several weeks of nightly clicking but that's not what he's saying. "no one could play this game" is really just a smallish subset of us who have built from bedrock up. ditch your old save and start fresh. i figured i'd have to anyways because i've explored a lot and would have to run for miles to generate any new terrain but with this new fog i'm realizing that newer is better. build your last world again but higher up this time (and fix any ****ups :smile.gif:)

Nah, he is being pointlessly hostile and ignoring the tone of the thread for his own reasons or abilities. I don't mind :smile.gif:
But yes, it is my preference there wasn't one, it is his that there is one. And you know what, it won't make any difference because it will be Notch who decides :smile.gif: Which is just fine by me.
It's like we all agree, but are arguing anyway lmao.
yeah, this. well said
vv guess i'm wrong. as i've seen in other threads its not like "beta" means much when millions of us are paying for the priviledge, its not "beta" in the traditional sense of the word. no amount of complaining is going to make a difference so just live with it. still allowed to mourn your world though
Mojang changes things due to feedback all the time. This isn't some kind of special case where that doesn't apply.
i don't want to argue since i'm mostly in agreement with you, i'm upset that my SSP world is crap now, losing several levels of height is just pointless but it really looks like we're maybe 50/50 in this thread and others, will they really roll back a "feature" for a select few? and yes a toggle or a world option would be great but creating new worlds isn't that big of a disaster. a real disaster is my hot water tank breaking last weekend and the plumber is taking his sweet time showing up with a replacement. that or i could live somewhere shitty and have no food. really dude as i said earlier its just pixels.
aaand since i never post this is my last one :smile.gif: see y'all later
Personally I think that the toggle makes the most sense. This way everybody gets to have it the way they prefer. If you like the black fog then by all means turn it on for your world. I don't like it one bit and I want to be able to turn it off for my world.
Since my turning it off in my world has absolutely zero effect on anyone that wants to keep it turned on I fail to see why there is controversy and argument about it.
Truly, the toggle option is the most logical thing to do whether it be done by mojang or by a mod is almost immaterial.
This is definitely not a bug. It was done intentionally.

Dude, you seem to be a reasonable chap. Why not build just a couple up from bedrock if they don't add a toggle?
It doesn't have to be all or nothing :smile.gif:

Again, I can live with it. I just prefer it if they couldn't.
its only pixels after all :smile.gif:
Shhhh! They will never believe you! lol.
You forgot polygons =)
Good God! Next you will be saying its in 3D too! Stop it!
- Stops hijacking the thread now, sorry OP :smile.gif: -
[Devil's advocate, since I'm not really for the fog] It's really no different than preferring the fog not exist due to things one's created.

Which I have suggested =p and he has also said he would accept, even if it isn't his preferred choice. x.x
It's like we all agree, but are arguing anyway lmao.

Agreed.
Agreed.
Sorry, writing it twice so its a little easier to notice.
(Bad troll, Hitch! Sorry)
