Before you jump in and say the health system is bad, wait and see what we can use the skill points for. Might be to increase health, armor, mining, health regeneration, etc...who knows. Just wait and see what the skill points are used for before you say the health system is bad. This health system on top of the right skill system could make this an even better game.
I have to agree. PVP as it was is atrocious. It's not fun. Spam sword or arrows and instaheal whenever you're down on health. There's no variety or strategy and the lag playing online makes the bow mostly useless. All of the videos posted on here are just awful and look like the most boring watered down PVP in any game I've seen.
Adding criticals, sprinting, knockbacks and blocking alone adds ten times the strategy of the old system. The only thing the hunger system takes away is the ability to spam food every time your health goes down, a system that simply wouldn't work now that food is stackable.
I also feel that they shouldn't be putting toggles on every system in the game. I'd like some level of uniformity for the sake a multiplayer.

^ A thousand times this. And I'm one of the people who doesn't like the hunger/health system as it currently exists.
In my mind, the skill points system is probably the best chance the Hunger/Health system has of redemption in my eyes. (While I would like it to be a toggleable feature, like Hardcore Mode in Fallout: New Vegas, I know that's not likely to happen). While I'm not a fan of it in its current state, being able to upgrade things like the regen rate would make it a LOT better.

Quoted for truth. I have a pretty big aversion to "realism" in games, but if there's any possible way to enhance it with skill points, then I think I could deal with it and not go mod happy.
Now I'm just waiting for the 1.9 hate to start though.
If it's a PVP server... why not just run 1.7.3 and be done with it? PVP aka you dont need all the new stuff, or Make a mod to remove hunger and revert food back to HP :/ simple no?
[inb4 modding not simple: yea I know it's not easy, but it's a simple concept to understand if you REALLY dont want something. >_> ]

not simple at all we would have to download the mod, and 1.8 for single player is fine

oh yea casue mining to get new items to mine with to mnie more with and build the same stuff is fun!! RIGHT
i like how people are saying tht pvp is no skill and not made for minecraft would all yall stfu even people who say tht it is skill its mostly luck and moving the right way. But beside tht pvp is wat minecraft fun! still gotta make your base and fight i bet the majority ppl crying about it is the 10 year old who suck and rely on eating and just charge in and die :sleep.gif:
Plain and simple. At the moment, Minecraft is not a PvP game. The developers will decide if they want to support it in some way and if they do, they will. Until then, you can make mods to support it yourself. Minecraft is quite modable, which makes one able to play it how they want and lots of people have already been doing just that, making lots of mods that change the game in many ways.

THIS....100% AGREED! they need change the food system for easy play!

Personally, I don't think there is anything hard about the hunger system as it is. It rewards you for learning how to defend yourself and act with caution in survival play. And as noted, it isn't designed for PvP because Minecraft isn't designed for PvP. For those who have PvP servers, I'm sure they can find or devise mods for it. Any mode of play that is popular will spawn mods. Better yet if you can customize it to how you prefer PvP to go, since I doubt notch will ever really put any kind of direct PvP support into the game.
Your completly wrong, though.
Hunger regerated your healthj Every 5 seconds, and heals 1/2 a Heart. Do you think that'll benefit you at all in a Sword to Sword combat? If your saying what we have to do now is run away from eachother after every hit and wait 15 seconds to gain 1 1/2 hearts, then Id rather them just code a plugin to remove it.
So its not skill, its running. Ruining the fun of PvP.
Watch this video, and tell me if this is possible with the Hunger Bar, at ALL.
blah blah blah that's why you can block now, you nub
Personally I think this would add an element of danger to PvP which would improve the experience. Using only two items (sword and soup) and spamming left-click while circle-strafing seems like it would get old.
I'm not really interested in Minecraft PvP as it is, but staying back and firing arrows to soften up an opponent, then sprinting in to finish them with a sword actually sounds kind of fun. This could maybe lead to new tactics and new kinds of PvP (skirmish, siege/defense, nighttime assassin).
That was a pretty dumb ass analogy. By your logic i could just say "I don't know about you, but the world i live in isn't made of square blocks."
It's a ****ing game kid.
Really? I don't know about you, I don't think my hand alone can fell an entire tree. It's minecraft, not a simulation of real life.

- No food.
- Wooden swords only (fists only?)
- (spawn diamond armor for everyone?)
TA-DA!
